ANGEL: For Fans of Women's Fiction and Atmospheric 20th Century Historical Stories

Refreshing story, full of interesting characters. I cared about the characters, especially Flo, which is always a sign of a good book. It had all the ingredients to warrant a sequel as I was left at the end wondering how the characters developed. I loved the Thorn Birds and I loved this. Would definitely recommend it.

I quite enjoyed this book, it was a bit different. Not sure why it is called Angel as that was a sort of strange sideline to the story - I felt. Nonetheless it was a good book once I'd got into it.

Pleasant bedtime reading.

A thoroughly good read; I very much enjoyed it. Ms McCullough is a prodigious writer. This is the second of her books I've read, and like the first I found it was almost impossible to put down. An excellent story of love in most unusual circumstances.

Different but intriguing. I prefer her books of earlier eras, and enjoy relating to areas of Australia I know vaguely.

I think this book was one of the most enjoyable books I have read in a while. I found it hard to put down and I loved "the House" and all it's tenants. Not at all what I expected from Colleen McCullough as I have only ever read "The Thorn Birds".

I have enjoyed many of Colleen McCullough's books in the past but not this one. Perhaps the fault is mine. I don't care for books written in a diary format

Love to read this book between other books and I love Colleen McCullough book. All worth read again and again

This book hooked me in straight away and I never lost interest at any stage. The characters were easy to picture and get to know and quite lovable on the whole. It was a refreshingly different story too and not one I could predict the ending to...it just kept flowing and took me along with it. I am definitely going to be looking for more of Colleen McCullough's books to read for sure.

What a weird book in a very good way. Incredibile. You can't possible guess the story before the very last page. And then you're month will stay open wide!!!!

Another amazing book by my favourite author of all time, I was so sorry when she died as that marked the end of her writings. This is another great read and again very different from all her other books, that's what makes her writing so special to me, all of her books are so very different and you never knew what to expect next except that it would be an absolutely engrossing read. Who would have thought that life in a brothel could be so inspiring, this book takes you to places you'd never go and you come across characters you'd never want to be friends with but you come away realising that they are just emotional good people just like the rest of us. It makes you realise that you should not put people down before you know them and their stories.

Colleen McCullough explores the medical field and Australia, again, in this novel about a young woman moving out of her staid home and wanting excitement in her life, including sex. She finds both. Set in the Sydney area in the early 60's (?), she moves into an area with prostitution, gays, and unusual living situations. She rejoices in her element! Her landladies daughter is intriguing to her. The story builds and while some is not a surprise, there is a twist. For fans of Ms. McCullough.

A fabulous peak into a 1960 Kings Cross boarding house, with a great mix of fascinating eccentric residents. Told through the diaries of Harriet Purcell, a young nurse who's just moved out of home, and is learning about her self, life and love. Through her eyes we meet the people and experience The Cross as Colleen McCullough knew it. Kept me reading. Probably not my very favourite Colleen McCullough, but lots of fun to read. Recommended.
