This is a unique simulation that allows you as the gamer to fully imerse yourself in the role of Admiral Karl Doenitz, chief of the U-Boat arm of the German Navy in World War II. No, you don't get to go to Germany on holiday, but, you do have to plan where to deploy your U-Boats, you must respond to the wishes of your masters, you must decide how much effort (political capitol) to expend on getting better torpedoes, building U-boats faster, getting the U-boat pens built stronger and faster etc. You must use the boats you have in the best manner possible and try to influence others to build the boats you want. You must do these things against the backdrop of increasing allied skill at ASW tactics, your decreasing ability to read their convoy routing messages and the increasing liklihood that the allies may in fact have broken your secret naval codes.You also assume the role of the U-boat skipper as you line up your boat to attack the allied merchant and naval ships that are encountered individually or in the great convoys that are Britian's lifeline. You will face fierce counterattacks from expert ASW crews in destroyers, corvettes and later, in the hunter-killer groups that prowl the Atlantic looking to sink your boat! You will rejoice (kind - of) at the sinking of large battleships and carriers as well as tankers and merchant ships of all flags.This game is work. It's serious. The full campaign will take hundreds of hours of your time, but, you will truly be a wiser person for the effort.
