Ok so after looking for a replacement battery for my laptop I came across this battery. I read the reviews and some were good and some weren't. A lot said the battery life was short. Well I work on medical x-ray equipment and know it's always best to let your battery go completely dead then give it a full charge. This is to prevent the memory that can possibly happen which cause the battery to thinks it's 100% charges when it actually isn't. Also some reviews said the battery wasn't 100% charged when they received it. Really what battery that sits on a shelf comes 100% charged? None cause it's called leak down which is normal. So since I have had this battery it has worked perfect with no issues and I recommend anyone who needs it to buy it and just let it go totally dead the first day and then do a full recharge and will be fine from them on.

Installed the battery, turned on laptop and it booted right up - no problems. Battery even came with nearly a full charge.

When my original battery died, I panicked. I bought this replacement one and my laptop has been working perfectly ever since.

The Dell Latitude 6420 is business-scale laptop and a workhorse with a long life. So of course, the OEM battery will eventually give out, as mine did. I ordered a replacement battery five months ago on Amazon from the XYT-TECH Store. Installation was easy. I just did a BIOS check on the battery, and it was rated good. I use the battery almost every day. I currently get around 2 hours of continuous use out of it reading news, texting, and a few videos here and there. I have no problem recommending this battery for purchase. I do think there may be a bug in the way the 6420 reads the battery charge. The battery reading can vacillate dramatically, with the charge going both up and down over my usual 2 hours of use disconnected from AC. It usually gives me a reading of about 3 hours a few minutes after I first unplug, dropping to about 2 hours remaining after 45 minutes or so of use. After about 90 minutes of continual use, it will fall to about 1 hour left of charge. From there, you better be ready to plug back in, because it can drop to critical (i.e., blinking yellow battery indicator) at just about any time from that time forward. That's my only real complaint, and as I said previously, it is probably not the battery's fault.

Solved dead battery problem

Battery continually either stops communicating with laptop, or reports wear level 100% and charge level as "1.$% on HWMonitor. this causes my laptop to go to sleep (per power setting for critical battery alerts). i have followed procedure to discharge then recharge fully. i dont run computer plugged in with battery and still it fails randomly. dont waste your money. go OEM if you can.

This battery fit perfectly on my Lattitude 6420. Took the old battery out and put the new battery in. No problems. It was charged to 70% out of the package when I installed. Used it till the meter went to 10%, then recharged fully overnight on my dock. The next day the battery was at 100%. Used my laptop for a solid three hours; full brightness, checking emails and surfing the web. Did the same thing the next day with no issues. Very happy with this purchase.

I'm really impressed with this battery. Buying replacement batteries can be a hit or miss situation, but I am really glad that this tuned out great. I got it installed and the laptop recognized it. got it charged and so far, it holds charge for considerable time when the power is out. Highly recommended.
