MetaAnatomy: Anatomy of a Yogi Review: Great Read and Resource - If you have ever had the privilege of learning from Kristin Leal in person then you know that she brings a delightful sense of humor and fun to her tremendous depth of knowledge. She brings the same sense of lightness to her writing. To anyone who has feared digging into the bones and flesh of the Yoga practice, this book is for you. She takes the dryness out of the subject matter and gives the reader a deeper understanding of body mechanics. There are a lot of Yoga teachers out there but very few have the concrete understanding of the physical form as well as the subtle body. Reading this book and having it as a resource on your shelf will go a long way to deepening your understanding and making you the kind of teacher that students will remember and keep coming back to. Review: I recommend it to students as a first anatomy book to ... - I have a lot of anatomy books as a movement educator. This is one of my favorites because it's simple and concise but educational. I recommend it to students as a first anatomy book to start to learn what is going on in the body during yoga, or any type of movement practice. Highly recommend. After three years, I still recommend this book and it's still one of my favorites. I think it would be a great addition to any 200-hour teacher training program for yoga. The truth is in most of the yoga trainings, there's very little anatomy being taught. Yoga Alliance only requires 12 hours for anatomy out of a 200-hour training. And what is taught is not functional, real, applicable, or relevant. This book is all of those things and such a pleasant read. It makes a great gift too.

A fun way to go deeper!
I had the pleasure of taking an anatomy workshop with Kristin as part of my teacher training, and so naturally wanted to get the beautiful book afterwards! I love the voice of the book; approachable and candid yet thorough and substantial. Her enthusiasm for yoga and human anatomy translates through the pages just as much as it does in person. If you are a yoga teacher or student looking to understand more about what you're working with, I really recommend this book. It's fun and digestible and sets you up well to delve deeper, should you want to. Enjoy!

Meta-Anatomy is a very fun and informative guide!
I had the utmost pleasure of being a part of a weekend conference led by Kristin Leal. I was absolutely blown away by the fact that she made the study of bones & muscles fun! Her presentation was the perfect blend of humor, solid facts and a fluid overall presentation. After this I HAD to buy the book! And my review is that the book is the embodiment of Ms. Leal's sharp, humorous and fun personality. So buy this book--learn a lot and support a hard-working woman who is a master in her field!

Great info, but graphics are illegible
Great book. Kristen has a great way of explaining to make the information stick. She’s a great teacher and I’m grateful for an anatomy book to have both excellent information and humor . The graphics, however - are terrible. You cannot read the muscle descriptions , at all. Completely illegible. I stopped about chapter 6 as I need to buy a magnifying glass to continue reading And intend to make notes throughout the book

Very informative, accessible and enjoyable book!
I was very fortunate to have met and learned from Kristin in person during my yoga teacher training. She is so incredibly knowledgeable, passionate, fun and approachable! And I think it definitely shows in her work. In this book, she makes the complex study of human anatomy and yoga philosophy very accessible and enjoyable through concise information, beautiful illustrations and a much welcomed sense of humor.

and joy. From my marrow
MetaAnatomy is a combination of sublime intelligence and wit. Kristin breaks it down unlike any other by providing real life analogy with what is happening inside our wondrous bodies. She inspired me to dig deeper, know more, and help connect the inner landscape of form and shape with how we are with ourselves and our students on the yoga mat with safety, integrity, and joy. From my marrow, Kristin, thank you!

This book is a terrific resource for Yoga teachers and anatomy enthusiasts alike
This book is a terrific resource for Yoga teachers and anatomy enthusiasts alike! It is a fully digestible book on anatomy, which is saying something. The topic of anatomy, while a wonderful and necessary pursuit as a yoga teacher, is not easy. The arena is frequently fraught, and this book and author present the material in a way that is relatable and usable. Her sense of humor goes a long way in helping learn the material as well. If you are contemplating a book for yoga teacher training, look no further. This is your book.

I am so excited to get this book. It looks amazing but so sad that when it arrived the pages were falling out :( I don't want to lose them or for them to be all out of order. I will try to contact the shipper. Disappointing for sure.
