Best learn-to-read books are Abeka.
I have tried everything, but Abeka books are the most successful for teaching beginning readers. Concepts are paced perfectly and student difficulties are anticipated and aided in the way the exercises are constricted. These books make my job easier and the student acquires skills that become lasting.

Kids enjoy this book
I am very satisfied with this book. I have used ABEKA books for years. It is colorful, the pictures are great. It holds the interest of children and introduces new material while also consistently reviewing previous lessons. It came quickly in the mail and was exactly as described.
