A really nice system for smaller room secondary TV viewing - but install decisions are critical...
A really nice system when the HDMI implementation is used (cable not included) so other TV remotes can control the sound, in our case, a Roku Stick 4K remote. Sound is great for smaller rooms where not a lot of bass is required. For us, this is a huge improvement over the almost unusable TV sound on our 2022 Samsung - 43" Class 7 Series TV. Build quality is excellent, better than some units costing twice as much, nor is the soundbar large or intrusive, just the right size for a 43" TV or larger (with smaller TVs soundbar width may exceed the TV). HDMI eARC was a bit tricky to setup, see below. The included Sony Soundbar remote is also of high quality and provides different sound fields to select depending on what you are watching, and there is also an automatic option. We found a desired setting for us, and use just the Roku remote for all of our sound and TV control. HDMI eARC issue and fix: At first, with everything setup properly, we kept getting sound through the TV, not the soundbar (wondering if some of the poor sound quality reviewers are inadvertently still listening to their TV speakers.) The fix: power off the TV and soundbar by unplugging for five minutes. Pull all other devices on HDMI ports off the TV, in our case, a Roku Stick. After the time has passed, and with only the Soundbar connected via the eARC HDMI port, use the TV remote, the Samsung in our case, to power on the TV. This forces the TV to see the eARC connected Soundbar and recognize it (as long as you have set HDMI-CEC, or brand name equivalent, to "on" in the TV setup menu). After reinstalling other devices, in our case the Roku Stick, the device (Roku) remote will immediately began controlling the Soundbar. (Why brands use different names for this HDMI-CEC feature is a mystery, and just adds unnecessary confusion.) In case anyone is interested, we installed the soundbar with a Dream Mount soundbar mount bracket ($20) to the TV sitting on a TV wall mount of same brand. You do have to uninstall the existing TV mount brackets on the TV (not the wall), and place the soundbar brackets underneath and reinstall, sounds harder than it is, but TV dismount is required, as are longer mount screws, which are provided. As the pic shows, looks like a professional installation with the soundbar moving with the TV on this full motion TV mount. Super happy with this setup.

Perfect Match for Our Sony TV
I gifted this soundbar to my boyfriend, and it has been a fantastic upgrade to his Sony TV. Setup was incredibly easy, and the HDMI ARC connection worked right away. The sound is much clearer than the TV speakers, especially for dialogue, and the bass is surprisingly good for such a compact soundbar. It doesn’t take up much space, but it fills the room with sound and makes movies, shows, and gaming much more enjoyable. If you have a Sony TV and want an affordable audio upgrade, this is a great choice.

Good, not great, fari value for cost
I agree with many other reviews. We got an upscale Samsung OLED TV and the speakers are pretty disappointing. So went searching for a sound bar. For $100 this is not a bad upgrade compared to the built in speakers on this 1/4 thick TV. But do not expect anything great. My main issue was improved voice/dialogue and this is better than the TV speakers but still not as good as I would like. I guess my suggestion would be to try find a display of speaker bars to see what you like if possible. If I had not bought this, I would have spent another $100 or so to see if that would be better. Anyway, set up: If my understanding is correct, you need an HDMI blah, blah, blah cable if you want the sound bar to on-off with your TV. I bought one, because the sound bar comes with only an 'optical' cable. Who knows what all this means? You got to be an electronics/audio expert to understand this stuff. So, plug it all in and hang on. Its not all that difficult to set up but there are dozens of things to choose from in the set up. What is best? Who knows. I spent a time trying this trying that and good luck getting remotes to sync up. Suggestion: there are several pretty good YouTube videos for this specific sound bar and I would recommend watching a couple to get an idea what is what. Maybe watch them before you buy. Oh, the cable I bought was 3 feet, were I to buy it again, i would have gotten 4 or 5 feet. The 3 foot cable just reaches on my Samsung TV so I suppose depending where your plug in is, you might need a longer cable. You will learn all about arc e connections, optical cables,....... hold on to your hat. The connections are not RCA cable plug ins any more. Bottom line, not bad for $100 and noticeably better than the lousy TV speakers. And unless you want to rattle the windows I don't think the bass is bad. Long winded review I suppose. Sum it up: better than TV speakers, not great for voice but OK, not simple to get working with other remotes, need to buy a cable, not bad for the price

Only when it works.
I am giving this sound bar 5 stars, but with reservations. It is compact and not overly large. It fits on my mantle under the mounted tv. This is the second sound bar sent to me. The first one only worked a few days before I had to call Sony and troubleshoot it to find out it was defective. The price was good, however I had to pay UPS to return it to Amazon. I was told I would recoup the loss but as of yesterday that credit had not shown up in my account. First: pros- sleek, lightweight, good sound, good pricing, several ways to connect, seamless hookup with remotes, TVs, streaming devices, good sound. - Cons: I turn my tv off at night and then when I want to watch again, the sound bar won’t work. I am forever having to unplug the bar, tv, and fire stick to have any audio. This does not make sense. There is notations of the bar going into mute when you turn the device off, and it depending on what configuration you start up again, ie: tv first, sound bar first, streaming device, etc., it can go into mute mode. This is ridiculous. You want, or at least I do, one remote for everything so you don’t have to keep up with remotes for each device. I have a Sharp, interactive smart tv, and use a fire stick for my “cable”. I have no choice as I use the “gig” internet and that provider for my cable channels. My provider encourages you to use your own devices to receive the channels they offer so for us it’s the fire stick for cable and streaming. This should not be the problem with the bar not connecting and/or going into mute mode because of you turning your tv on. Since the description of this sound bar uses the seamless hookup as one of the advantages of purchasing this product, the manufacturer should design it to come on and work, regardless of what sequence your remote turns all the devices on. Amazon replaced the first unit (had it about two weeks, one using it, one trying to figure out what was wrong). Sony was good at troubleshooting but was no help at replacing the unit, even with me supplying the invoice, etc. After the troubleshooting, and me providing the invoice by email, I never heard from Sony again, so any compliment I give for customer service is to Amazon, which had me a new one ASAP. I might note that this didn’t start happening until this week. We have had the replacement only about two weeks now, so this occurrence may possibly be another defective unit. I bought a protection plan because of the reviews about this product. I maybe should have just bought another product than this one. Independent analysis of sound bars at the time I purchased the first one had this one as #1. I will update later if I continue to have to reboot everything to get it to work. I forgot to mention I am using the HDMI-ARC hookup which is the one suggested. Update: I think I found the answer on Sony’s website. Using an option on the remote - ie:voice - turns the HDMI-ARC option off. Since that is my connection method unconsciously I have been muting for restarting my connection, when trying to set the bar for better voice, less background. This bar does have good sound, very decent wattage and a reasonable price. I will stick with - now - 5 stars.

Amazing soundbar! 10/10
This soundbar is an absolute steal for the money! It works amazingly well, the sound quality is high end and it’s super easy to set up and install. I have it hanging from my wall mounted TV and it works wonders for my room.

Easy setup and compatible with roku's remote
Great sound bar at a great price, tried 2 before this one and it was not compatible with my Roku stick, this one turns volume up and down with Bluetooth connected to my Roku stick and all I had to do was pair it with Bluetooth. Works great, good sound for the money and easy set up!

Not just plug and play.
Ok, not exactly what I expected. Sound wise it’s passable, but switching between Bluetooth wireless headphones and an arc hdmi signal to the tv, the and picture changes, have to reset in FIOS settings, then Sony tv settings. It is a pain in the butt. Not as seamless as I expected. As an external Bluetooth speaker via AirPlay it’s ok.

Good soundbar for price.
Connectivity is good. Remote works. The size keeps it conveniently out of the way. As long as the soundbar is on a flat surface, it shouldn't move anywhere. Good soundbar for the price. Only reason 4 instead of 5 stars is the bass level, but still better than tv speakers.

Good looking, great sound.
I can’t be sure why there’s any negative reviews here. For us, this is a Godsend. We have a higher end Sony Bravia 42” LED flatscreen TVs purchased in 2010. From day one we used this TV permanently connected to an ex excellent audio system, bypassing it’s internal speakers. We have now purchased a 65” Sony Bravia to replace that set and moved the old one to the bedroom. There, we began to use for the first time with it’s internal speakers, and we’re very disappointed with their sound quality. (But we are used to the very best sound). That TV has rear firing speakers and this was no doubt a concern to our neighbour on the other side of our townhomes shared wall. This Sony sound bar has made a huge difference to the sound quality. It’s front firing, aside from a single rear port for bass reinforcement. This port can be padded down with a foam plug (not included) if desired to reduce its effect on neighbours. It beats the TV’s internal speakers hands down x10. But .... It’s ideally suited to bedroom use. It is NOT a replacement for a dedicated audio system of good quality. It will play loud if desired, but critically to us it plays super clear at low volumes. I suspect that many negative reviews here are from people with unreasonable expectations. It’s NOT a boo box, and frankly a device of this size will never produce earth shaking bass. Physics dictate that. Importantly is does not EXAGGERATE bass. As for connectivity using Bluetooth, and sound quality using music devices, I cannot say. We bought it sold for television use. I wouldn’t expect this to provide HiFi quality music reproduction. It’s pricier than many of the Asian designed and built ones, but well worth it. It’s a real bargain compared to many of the higher priced brand name ones that are 2 and 3 times the cost.

VFM soundbar, powered by Sony's reputation
Crystal clear audio (as expected from Sony), compact form factor and very good value for money! The 'Voice' mode really helps to boost vocals in songs/videos a lot, as advertised. All features work flawlessly, incl. the bluetooth, Optical audio and HDMI ARC fuctionalities.
