Best thing I ever bought for my daughters GCSE Exam revision for English Literature, this version is easy to breakdown for complicated txt to modern English, to make is much easier for the reader to understand and translate the dialogue between every character aswell as the meaning and definition. Brilliant 👏 🙌.

Having a modern translation alongside the original Shakespeare is brillaint. I also use other texts where specific vocabulary is explained.

Very helpful for a first-time reader like myself using it for an English class. Sometimes phrases would make little sense before the teacher explained it and this book saved me a lot of time making notes to remember each difficult line and I developed a better understanding of the text, quickly.

Delivery was really quick. A super book to read with both Shakespearean text alongside modern day interpretation.

I use this in my tuition, especially for students who just don't get Shakespeare - and often feel they never will. It makes a good starting point, especially for GCSE. It has one page original text facing one page text rewritten in modern English, so nicely set out too. It also made reluctant students more willing to think they could work with Shakespeare, so well worth a try.

I used to think I understood the original text, but with the Sparknotes modern text alongside the original I realised just how much I had been missing. I never realised Mercutio was quite so rude! Generally I would only want the modern translation as a guide to help with understanding, but this is the exception. While not quite Shakespeare at his best it's pithy and in keeping with the spirit of the original and could certainly be used on its own to give a good flavour of Shakespearean theatre without the misunderstandings. I would certainly buy other books in this series.

I haven't really looked at this book in depth yet, but it appears to be what I required. I wanted to try and teach some English literature to French-speaking Belgian students and I thought this book might be a good text to use. I have yet to try however! What I do what to say though was that the delivery of the product was awful. I ordered it on the 12th December and it did not arrive until the beginning of January when I had been given a delivery date estimate of the end of December. This was do to the seller, which was not Amazon itself, and the Christmas holidays. But even so, I felt that it took a very long time to arrive, and it arrived after I had left England for Belgium again so it had to be sent on to me.

Lu avant d'aller voir la pièce à New-York en février 2025. Le concept texte original à gauche et "traduction" en anglais moderne est parfait pour s'imprégner de l'histoire complète en amont.

Aufbau des Buches ist wie beschrieben, sehr gut und sehr gut lesbar. Zum Verständnis tragen in hohem Maße auch die Anmerkungen zu Gebräuchen und Zeittypischem bei. Für Leute, die den Originaltext lesen und verstehen wollen, ohne schon Profis zu sein, wirklich zu empfehlen!
