The title would have been entirely appropriate (as, indeed, is Vespertine, meaning "pertaining to the evening"). Ever since 1993's vital, effusive Debut, Björk's music has been increasingly intimate, gently private and concerned with seclusion. It's typical then that Vespertine's first single was called "Hidden Place". The studious solitude is rewarding, though. Vespertine is a lush, gorgeous swell of mid-pace electronica, symphonic strings and Björk's uniquely alien, spectral vocal. There are fantastical wonders here. "Cocoon" (another eulogy to withdrawal from the world) is delicate as a breath, Björk sounding too fragile to be flesh as she lauds "a beauty this immense". "Pagan Poetry" and "Aurora", likewise, are adrift in an enchanted reverie. When she chooses, she crafts killer tunes: "It's Not up to You" is as lovely as anything on Post. Yet frequently, on such tracks as the yearning, glancing "Undo", Björk seems to be simply thinking aloud, revelling in this wildly rich and visceral music. She's reclaimed cutting-edge electronica, so often the province of geeks and technicians, for the poets and the passionate. Quite frankly, this album is amazing. Everything about this album is amazing synchronized menacing wonder of Hidden Place all the way through to the intimacy of cocoon. The uplifting Its not up to you (which always gives me goosebumps when the hook comes in), the enchanting harm of will, the mysterious Sun in my Mouth, the reviving Unison, the amazing aurora and the absolutely MAGNIFICENT PAGAN POETRY 10/10 SONG. Definately worth buying. each song has its own emotion. better than any other album by Bjork.

Simply Sublime
This is a fantastic album and I cannot believe that it took me so long to fully get into Bjòrk's music. This album is especially special as it was written, and influenced by the time that Björk and a long-term partner formed a relationship. The breakdown of this relationship is documented in Vulnicura. I feel these albums have a special bond between them.

Vespertine is quite a relaxing and reflective experience
As a Björk fan and as someone who have listened every song by her, I can tell this is her best album, all shy, intimate, white, winterly, its very sweet, relaxing, reflective, melancholy, it's quite an experience, "Aurora" is my favorite track of it

I'm not well at the mo so it will be short,i'm new to Bjork's music-but this album is creative,otherworldly,catchy and so unique,which is one of the main reasons for starting to listen to the artist-Totally Genuine.If you like Bjork already-you WILL love this,Brilliant.

J'ai reçu cet album pour Noël, et je n'en ai jamais été déçu. C'était Noël, le 25 décembre 2023. Je m'apprêtais à ouvrir mes cadeaux quand j'ai remarqué celui-ci, il avait une forme de CD, j'étais assez surpris car je n'en avait pas demandé. Je l'ai ouvert et que fus ma surprise quand j'ai vu qu'il s'agissait de Vespertine de Björk. Je suis un grand fan de Björk et voir mon album préféré devant moi m'a rendu très heureux. Je l'ai regarder, lu le livret, écouter le CD et je n'est rien à dire. Le CD est arrivé dans aucunes rayures, même pas sur la boîte, le livret est extrêmement beau et de même pour le CD. Ils contiennent tout ces dessins assez complexes ce qui rajoute toute une énergie, toute une histoire et un tournant artistique à l'album. L'album en lui-même est assez calme, même très calme. Il est très différent d'Homogenic mais il vaut vraiment le coup d'être écouter. Très bon album et très bon CD, je n'ai rien d'autre à dire. Merci d'avoir lu.
