Lifesaver if you have sleep apnea and don't want to mess with CPAP
I bought this about a year ago and have used it every night since. It had a slight odor from the foam, I washed it in the washing machine and that went away as soon as it dried (line dry...not dryer). So in a day I was good to go. If you inflate the air bladder full, you CANNOT sleep on your back, it basically keeps you ninety degrees to the bed. I found that too much. So I let around half the air out of the bladder, and with that setting I can roll from one side to the other, and I could sleep somewhat on my back, but if I do my head is elevated and I don't snore. However, 95% of the time I don't sleep any on my back. The point is, you can adjust the bladder to give any level of partial or none at all back sleeping. It took a day to get the bladder set right, and since then I've worn it every night, never needed to reset it. Likewise, it took a day to find the best use of the straps for me. I like the backpack style just over the shoulders, not X'd across the chest. I find it more comfy, though either works fine. So, by two days in I had it all adjusted and ever since then it takes about 15 seconds a night to put it on last thing before going to bed. You just fasten the Velcro belly strap and lie down. The Velcro, the fabric, the bladder, everything still working like new after, as I said, almost a year. Likewise a few seconds when I get up to set it where it lives. I find it doesn't interfere with sleep quality at all, or ease of going to asleep. It's well made and does the job. I say it's a lifesaver since I sleep with a recording pulse oximeter (Wellvue "Sleepu" available from Amazon, finger ring sensor and wrist strap for device, highly recommended) and it was showing me an ODI of 15 or so, and sometimes SpO2 as low as 61, which was scary. Since I started using the backpack a typical ODI is around 0.5 (no apnea) and typical minimum SpO2 is over 90%. [Doc says you worry when it's under 88% for 5 minutes...which it was, pre-backpack and never since.] I recently finally had a full-blown sleep study where he confirmed the backpack has solved my issue. Highly recommend it for sleep apnea. Note: For "obstructive" sleep apnea, where the problem is lying on your back and your tongue etc. interfering with your airway. There is also "central" sleep apnea in a minority of people where the issue is malfunctioning nerve control, as I understand it. I don't think it would solve that problem. Consult a doctor if you have any doubt what your issue is or if you have an issue. But this puppy works great to comfortably let you sleep on your side, or partially on your back.

Tried twice, sent both back
When I bought this backpack in late August, the photo on Amazon of the item shows a substantial chest strap with a buckle, and snaps to hold the chest strap to the side straps. The 1st backpack I received was defective: one of the side straps was sewn on with a twist. I returned it and requested a replacement. The 2nd one I got, today, has a flimsy chest strap with only 2 slides to adjust the strap. Since this was my 2nd attempt to buy this item, I tried it on to see if would work. No, it wouldn't. If the chest strap is pulled taut, the side straps dig in on one edge; I can imagine how uncomfortable it must be to sleep in. I'm sending it back for a refund, and I'll try my luck with another brand. By the way, the photo on Amazon was changed between August 31 and today, September 3. The photo now shows the flimsy chest strap, not the stronger one with a buckle.

So far, ok, but …
First, let me say, I think this will work. I’ve had eye surgery and cannot lay on my back for 6 mos. Previous back tube moved around and I would end up on back. This one is secure, but it took some manipulating. Was suppose to arrive in two days with Prime. Took 4 days! Arrived with a tiny business card with instructions, impossible to read even with magnifying glass. No helpful diagrams; and straps that were separate and no explanation how to use. Emailed the company and I did get a PDF instruction sheet I could, read, still no diagram that showed how to use the additional straps. They were very prompt, so give kudos.. I’ve used one night. The buckle is huge and digs into ribs. Put a washcloth as a barrier to cushion. Straps dangle with nowhere to go, in the way. Surely there is a better invention! As I said it kept me off my back, but what an ordeal getting on and off..most of all trying to figure out what goes where. For this money, at least provide clear instructions and deliver on timr. Will try one more night and decide if I’ll keep it. Guess I need work on my patience and expectations.

It has worked extremely well for me in preventing sleep apnea, but only after I jury-rigged it.
I have bad sleep apnea when sleeping on my back, but not when sleeping on my side. Apparently, however, while asleep I am bound and determined to sleep on my back. I found the WoodyKnows Side-Sleeping Backpack on Amazon and thought it might do the trick. The size guide on the Amazon page for it says "The large size is for people with a back width larger than 16 inches (40 cm). My back is exactly 16," so I ordered the small size on 11/11/23. It came quickly, but I quickly realized that the chest strap was so tight that the velcro closure kept coming loose, sometimes even before I went to sleep, so on 11/15/23, I ordered the large. The shoulder straps on the large were way too loose, even when adjusted to the tightest setting. As I said above, if I'm not on my back while I am asleep, I struggle mightily (usually without waking) to get there, and I end up being in terrible shape the next day from the sleep apnea. Since the straps were not sufficiently adjustable using the velcro patches on them, I made do by tying them in knots at a length that works for me (see attached photo). The information on the Amazon page suggested that one can train oneself to stay on one's side by using this device. Unfortunately, that's not true for me as, after 8 months, I still wake up in the middle of the night trying to get over onto my back. I bought a 2nd one on 6/13/24 because I apparently put so much strain on the straps that the fabric on them has gotten torn in places, and there are signs that some of the stitching may be a bit looser than it was. I gave this item 4 stars because it has done a wonderful job for me. I didn't give it 5 stars because of what I had to do to make it work. I highly recommend WoodyKnows products, and suspect that they are perfect for most people that need them, even without having to jury-rig them. One more note: I have to keep the chest strap pretty loose or the velcro closure on it comes undone. I can see why, if it were too tight and restricted breathing in the middle of the night, it would essentially defeat the purpose of the bacpack, but, as it is, the shoulder straps do all the hard work and the chest strap just keeps it from flopping around too much.

Keeps me sleeping only my side, reducing sleep apnea
I discovered this product on Amazon in March 2022 and purchased it right away. Because of sleep apnea for years I've had stacked, folded blankets and a body pillow behind my back and wrapped myself like a cocoon inside the bedspread with a pillow in front of my chest. This was all to keep me on my side. It's worked okay most of the time, but didn't prevent the onset of heart arrhythmia in recent months. Finally getting a sleep test again after one several years ago that was inconclusive, I have a diagnosis. Not long before the recent test, I started using the WoodyKnows Side-Sleeping Backpack, skipping it of course on the test nights. When I wear it I reliably stay on my side. I no longer need all the blankets and pillows, nor wrap up tightly to stay in position. It's so wonderful! I've taken it with me on a week's vacation and later a two-night trip, and had good results as well. If you miss camping and other activities, the WoodyKnows may free you to do them again. I wish I'd had this years ago. It could possibly have prevented the onset of the heart condition. If you have snoring or apnea, don't hesitate. Pick the right size and try it! Update August 2022: I've continued using the WoodyKnows backpack with success. In the warmer season with lighter garments it is still comfortable. I saw some other reviews where users complained about the straps being too long or uncomfortable. I am a small frame female and I did choose to cross the straps in "X" fashion because of strap length, but I find it also ensures a snug fit with the secured belt while not constricting. The diameter of the provided inflatable cylinder insert that comes with the "small" size pack might be improved with a slightly larger circumference. I keep an extra pillow just behind the pack pillow compartment so that I can use it to slightly lift the pack and keep my face (and tongue) positioned slightly downward. The compartment has two different zipper tracks, allowing expansion of the compartment for a bigger pillow. I plan to inquire with the maker about available larger pillow that will fit. If not, wrapping the cylinder with a hand towel may do the trick.

Why is the velcro is losing its "grabbing power" after 6 months?
I have tried large wedges, tennis balls in back pockets and lots of perseverance. My experience is that the Side-Sleeping Backpack works better than all of them. The tennis balls were a joke. The 12" high wedge has promise, but sliding down in your sleep is always a challenge. OTOH, the Side-Sleeping Backpack seems to be working most of the time... perhaps 90%. Its inflated size makes changing positions very difficult to change during sleep. It is well made and feels like it will last a few years. OTOH, like too many sellers, reading their User Instructions requires a magnifying glass to read. It is somewhat complicated and took me a number of nights to come up with a system to slide into the apparatus easily. I recommend the WoodyKnows Backpack. 12/26/2023 - I gave Side-Sleeping Backpack 5 stars, but after 5 months of every night use I would have to drop one star (but don't know how). Issues: 1) The velcro is losing its tack. I looked through the Q/A here and found no one offering a way to bring back its grip. Doubt it will last a year. 2) I bought the large size, but I really need a *smaller size straps* with the *large size bag.* Alas, none are offered. I have to fold the belts in places and fold them under the belt, so they are creasing and probably will tear soon. 3) The backpack is doing its job, but the short life may make many back away. OTOH, I bought a EMAY SleepO2 Pro - Wrist Pulse Oximeter on Amazon and it verifies that the Backpack is working by bringing my Hypopnea numbers down.

Works but lumpy
This backpack works great for keeping you on your side. But it gets very uncomfortable after a few hours. I'm a skinny girl- not much padding. The seams where the shoulder straps meet the waist belt are rather thick and lumpy - woke up with rather painful pressure point pain at the those seam locations. Would recommend if your padded a bit but not if skinny. Hope they try to minimize the seam points down and make them smoother - then would buy again.

WAS AMAZINg and new model is horrible!
I bought one of these. The side sleeper with the magic tape straps. It was amazing. I slept so well. I ordered a new one, bc mine was wearing out and it came with buckles. I cannot use it with buckles as you frequently go on your stomach and I cannot have buckles digging into me. They need to go back to the magic tape straps. I just ordered two older models of the magic tape straps on eBay. Otherwise, this was an absolute lifesaver. I have obstructive sleep apnea bc of jaw position and wake up, on back only, 18 times an hr. Since I have been using this.. I am actually slowly learning what it is like to actually get some rest. I am so upset I cannot get the product I love from them anymore. the side backpack with the magic tape straps - not buckles!

Cumple su funcion. Bien

Rimligt pris. Rekommenderas!
