Sangean WFR-39 FM-RBDS/Internet Radio with Spotify Connect, AirMusic Control Rechargeable Portable Digital Radio

Bought via Amazon.com. This little radio seemed promising. But it proved entirely otherwise. A Bluetooth speaker is more sensible anytime. The idea behind purchase decision was a portable unit that is self sufficient and allows exploring global internet radio stations, and Sangean seemed a promising brand. From day one though, this proved to be a bad idea. The Network connection always remained fussy - took a bunch of tries each time to get it connected to my router. And i had in fact upgraded my router to a different brand yet had similar results. Once connected though, it would stay until powered off. The sound quality can be said to be decent for a radio this size, but nowhere comparable to what one expects from similar sized bluetooth speakers. It does have some tone control and to its credit the sound was old school - sufficient for personal listening. Moving on, it paired easily with AirMusic App and could be remote controlled via it. Searching for stations via the app was more convenient. Comes with a FM receiver too, and Spotify connect, and these worked as expected.The main issue is with the hardware implementation - Wifi connection issues, Fussy firmware updates - says none found until you connect to power and restart, and above all - the unit died within 6 months of sparing use. It died while playing and never powered back on. connecting the charger shows red light while charging and green when done - but the unit refuses to show any signs of life. Tried in vain to resuscitate with key/button combinations to no avail. Sangean has no service centers in India, and my only option is perhaps to bring it to some electronic repair shop to check its battery and power circuit. Needless to say, i haven't found it worth the trouble.So there you are. This is a bad idea, poor value for money, and best avoided!

Tiene un software muy deficiente y capta muy pocas emisoras a diferencia de otros Radios de Internet. Yo no lo recomiendo.

Wanted an internet radio for managing mother that was easy to use & reliable as far as capturing stations from overseas… and this radio far surpassed not only my expectations but my mothers as well!

I am very pleased with my Sangean W-32 Internet Radio I purchase last year and wanted a portable edition for travel and listening in another room of the house. I like that I could use the same remote APP on my phone. I saw a lot of reviews mentioning problems with connectivity or issues with the radio holding a signal. I have not had these issues. Maybe there has been an update that addressed this since those reviews were written? It does take a while to connect initially, but channel changes have taken little time to connect. Battery life could be longer (6-7 hrs at a time?) but this tends to come with a portable unit. I did purchase a USB plug that is compliant with what is recommended for the unit and this eliminates the battery issues. Charging time is average or a couple to three hours for a full charge which is what can be expected. I do wish the internet channel selection was more extensive as is with the W-32, particularly with local channels. That is not to say it is not acceptable but it is just not as good as the W-32. FM reception is very good. The FM tuning can be tiresome but I can save enough stations so it is not an issue unless I travel and have to find the local stations. But, I will usually go to the internet channels when I travel. Not a biggie. Overall, I am pleased with the radio and it does what I was looking for it to do.
