Best Stuff I Have Used to Thwart Bugs. If you are "Sweet-blooded" Buy This
Okay, I have what is known it the deep South as sweet blood. Bugs just cannot resist taking a chunk out of me. I have used every brand and type of OTC bug spray found in drug stores across the country. Most either had minimal or no impact, or lasted a very short time. I had pretty much resigned myself to a life of itching and scratching, not to mention passing up many outdoor activities. While looking for flea/tick medicine for my dogs, I decided to take a quick look on Amazon for something new. I came across this product and read the reviews. I decided to give it a shot, resigned to the likely fact that I was once again wasting my time and money. But, this stuff is amazing! After spending many hours at the local dog park fending off insect assaults, I sprayed this stuff on my exposed arms, my jeans and my baseball cap. First thing I noticed is that it didn't stink. It has a light, sort of lemon smell. Next thing I noticed is that it appeared wetter, but more evenly distributed, than I expected. But, it didn't feel greasy or uncomfortable. Nor did it seem to bother my dogs, although I did make a point of keeping them out of spraying range. Into the dog park we went. We spent about an hour there. No swatting away bugs and no bites. This stuff is great. And, this stuff lasts a long time. The next day, my wife and I had breakfast outdoors at a cafe. Again, no bug attack and my wife, who is very chemical-averse, said she did not notice any chemical smell. Depending on your use or preference, this could be good or bad. For me, it is great. After short order, it transformed from being wet to becoming a slightly sticky (but not annoyingly so) thin coating. And it stayed there until I washed it off. The jeans also had a slightly sticky coating, which remained until the next day. Although it was slightly sticky to the touch, it's not like things stuck to it and there was no residue on my leather car seat. I could se how this slight stickiness and extreme lasting power could present a problem in certain circumstances, hence the 4 (as opposed to 5) stars. If you have sweet blood and find other bug strays ineffective, I definitely recommend giving this stuff a try. If, however, you are not singled out by bugs, this may be more than you need. Update: We have been experiencing a number of unusually hot humid days, the kind that causes flying insects to come out full force. This is amplified at the dog park, where, apparently the well-protected dogs are shunned in favor of more tasty humans. The tiny black flying fangs were literally swarming. Yet, while others were fiercely swatting at the air, I sat calmly, watching the insects. Only one persistent troublemaker came near me and, while making an annoyance out of himself, did not land on or bite me. This stuff is fantastic. Although I didn't feel it while at the park, once I returned to my relatively cool home, I felt like I was coated in a thin layer of plastic. But, it easily washed off. A small price to pay not to spend the night itching and scratching. Given how well this product works, I have changed the 4 stars to 5.

IT ACTUALLY WORKS!!!!!
Like the title says, it actually works! I’m a person who is a big magnet during the spring, summer and fall. I literally avoid the outdoors unless I’m at the pool with my kids. Unfortunately I have a ton of outdoor maintenance that I can’t push off any longer but I can’t deal with the bugs. I went searching on the internet and learned about Picaridin and why it’s better than DEET. I went to Amazon next to search and came across this. I figured why not? What’s the worst that can happen? So I hit “Buy Now” Well, today was test day. I went to the garage, sprayed my arms, legs, sprayed the air and did a little walkthrough/twirl, then said a little prayer. Let me tell you, I have never been so unbothered by bugs in my entire life! I could see a swarm of gnats and it’s like they could smell the spray on me and swarmed away! Nothing came within 10 feet of me! My skin wasn’t greasy feeling, clothes were not stained and the product is completely unscented. I also have sensitive skin and this did NOT irritate it. I plan on using this until the day I die.

Amazing. Read full review.
This review is for the 6oz SPRAY can... I do have this same product in the lotion form, but I have yet to use it. This review is for the spray only. I got bit by a tick and got Lymes disease about two months ago. Before that, I had made it through 25 years old the Maine and New Hampshire outdoors without much of an issue. I bought this MAINLY for ticks, although this review isn't about ticks at all. I had this in my golf bag to give myself a nice spray down before hitting 18. I'm not the best golfer in the world, so I happen to be searching in the tall grass or woods from time to tike for my ball. This was the main reason I bought this. Was to keep the ticks away....tjebpkanxwau to use the lion on my ankles and lower legs, and the spray on the rest of me....well... I haven't been golfing sense I bought it, so I can't tell you how that worked out. I have however been at my lake house in Maine all week. Talk about misquitoe city... They are everywhere... The rule *used to be* go in the bug tent, or don't go out at all. Now the rule is, if your going out, spray yourself with Sawyer! This stuff is the best sh*t I have ever used to keep the bugs off me. DEET works okay, but it smells terrible and I find that bugs still land on you, they just don't bite all the time. This product by Sawyer is amazing. I'm not going to sit here and say that it kept the misquitoes away, because it didn't... But what it did do was prevent them from even landing on me. I thought this product was garbage for the first 10 minutes, because I was sitting in my chair, still swatting the bugs away from me.... It took a good joke for me to stop thinking about the bugs, and minutes later, I realized I hadn't swap at my legs or arms in a while. You will only enjoy this product if you truly "trust" it... The chemicals don't smell at all, so the bugs do stay AROUND you.. Yet if you actually watch and pay attention, they never actually LAND on you. All in all I would rate this a 50/5 stars... In an environment where I would have been torn apart by misquitoe after misquitoe.. In 3 days I haven't been touched by one. It's the most bliss feeling in the world. THE THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE BUYING: the spray works great... Supreme I would even say... But it doesn't like you to be a wimp about using it! Push all the way down and get the full misting spray, or else you will get a lot of liquid shot at you... Trust me, you get less with more on this one. The spray doesn't smell.. Really... At all... So the bugs do stay AROUND you... They have to be close to pick it up, but when they do get close they go running in a hurry. *note* spray in hands and wipe ears, and use hand sanitizer or wash your hands... This was the biggest help to me in combating them so I did t hear the constant buzzing.

Works
This works just as well as 40% DEET. I have O+ blood and the minute I go out a broadcast announces to all bloodsuckers that I'm available. It's a bit sticky but it's better than scratching myself raw. No See Ums attack my legs while mosquitoes go for the rump. I HATE it. My friend is an entomologist and has verified 20% Picaridin is essential

NO DEET BUT ONLY SOMEWHAT EFFECTIVE ON IOWA MOSQUITOES
I bought this looking for a safer alternative to DEET insect repellent. Mosquitoes have been like a biblical plague in Iowa this year, never in my 46 years have I seen it like this. It isn’t one landing on us here or there like most years, it’s 10 or 15 landing and biting constantly with no let up all day. We were using cheap effective DEET spray on our clothes and shoes, bug soother on our faces and necks, with some non DEET peach colored can Off on our arms and legs. That combo was about 99 percent effective. I wanted to get away from DEET altogether and the peach colored off caused anyone who came near it as it was being applied to cough violently and so I purchased10 different products to try including this one. Well not using DEET on our clothes was a big mistake and we went back to it right away, definitely nothing is as effective as DEET. This product on our arms and legs with the Deet on our clothes and bug soother on or necks and faces was only about 70-80% effective on the types on mosquitoes we have here in Iowa. It’s better than many of the “natural products” but we will keep trying. Running two bug zappers every night and the dog and I playing piped piper making loops through the dark yard brushing up against the trees and bushes and hosta beds, stirring up the mosquitoes and then leading them past the bug zappers is thinning them out drastically. Also spraying the yard once a week with a yard fogger is helping as well. Now if only I could find a surplus grandfathered 55 gallon drum of DDT in a corner of a farm estate sale, with the prospects of that happening and being able to truly eliminate all the mosquitoes in the area being about zero, repellent is gonna be part of life but not this one for us. I’d certainly give it a try in another area with different mosquitoes

Not happy - looked old and used already
The can was rusty. Looked like it was sitting somewhere for months plus I could see liquid from the spout and I hadn’t sprayed it

Failed spray
Bought 2 of these for a trip to Belize in advance. Didn't test before departure but found one completely inoperable and now to late to return.
