Worked like a charm
Saw this because my new tv didn't have a 3.5mm headphone attachment. Tried hooking it up with Bluetooth to my echo dot then to soundbar but either sound was too loud or too low. Hooked it up to a bigger blue tooth speaker but sound wasn't great.....So I ordered this, it said frequently returned but i thought I would give it a go...it arrived today and i plugged it in to the SPDIF port of tv, used a 110 5v USB plug for the power source and used a 3.5mm female to female adapter to connect the 3.5mm 25ft cord I already had to my Vizio sound bar. Turned on tv, went to audio and selected digital and had sound coming from my sound bar. TV volume wouldn't work but i played with it and turned on the surround sound and now tv speakers as well as soundbar speakers both work....Can't wait till the next nascar race so i can make the windows rattle....lol

My new tv had no analog audio out, only an optical. I plugged in this adapter and it did not work until I also plugged in the USB to the TV.

Unidirectional is terrible!
Absolutely TERRIBLE that this item is unidirectional being from Optical to AUX, not allowing sound to travel from AUX to Optical... Why even make a cable unidirectional?? Just Terrible. What a waste of time and money

Works like a charm!
I used this to connect an old, but high quality speaker, to a new flat screen tv. The audio out on the speaker has a 3.5mm jack, while the new flat screen utilizes an optical audio port. This inexpensive cable prevented me from having to go out and spend a lot of money on a sound bar! (although I may still buy one 😁)
