Astrology, Psychology, and the Four Elements: An Energy Approach to Astrology and Its Use in the Counseling Arts

Simply, this book is a necessity for anyone who takes Psychological Astrology seriously. Arroyo presents a broader view of Astrology than usual, by viewing it as a whole - a part of everything, a system of interconnected parts- and yet at the same time this book manages to take such a vast all-encompassing concept and present it in a way that's easy to grasp, understand, and most importantly, use. Arroyo always enlightens, and this book is essential for beginning and advanced students of astrology. You will view the world differently.

If you are a beginner to astrology, I can imagine this would be difficult to understand. I have been studying astrology for years, read countless books and studied the signs and their characteristics. This book goes beyond to explain the houses and the elements to the planets and even the energies to full understanding. I highly recommend this book if you are intermediate to advanced in understanding astrology. This book will take you beyond what you know. Again, this is not for the beginner. Highly recommend.

I am only half way through this book, but I can already say it is the clearest and most profound book on astrology (apart from Richard Tarnas' "Cosmos and Psyche") that I have read. I've also read Arroyo's "Astrology, Karma, and Transformation," but I should have read this one first because it stays closer to the fundamentals of astrology rather than moving outward into its applications in counseling the way "A, K & T" does.

This book is not as good as I'd hoped, but I had better clarify as to why I feel this way. I should have read it when I was still a novice astrologer. It is the definitive bridge between beginning and intermediate astrology: those of us who have gotten our planetary and elemental attributions down have begun to see the bigger picture, which is that astrology and psychology are linked whether one cares to admit it or not. I think I was hoping for more because of how I've been viewing astrology for some time. However to see just the title of this book is sort of already saying what we want to hear, what has been swimming in circles in the mind. And this is why you should read this book as soon as astrology captures your heart and not a moment later. You can feel content to hold up your head even when people at the dinner table are spewing madly about what a crock of crap astrology is. I'd like to hear more about what happens when astrologers are in the big chair in the couseling office.

A definitely good introductory book for anyone considering a serious study of astrology. It grounds the reader by both validating astrology as a form of universal understanding and providing a comprehensive and simple four element explination. This will make understanding the subsequent elements and points in astrological interpretation much easier. It has a "general to specific" approach which aids in making accurate interpretations. This is not a book for the lightly interested or if you prefer the "magazine column" sort of astrology.

Steven Arroyo is one of my favorite astrologers and this is one of my favorite books. I believe you can pretty much 'do it' with the elements alone and this book will tell you how we express ourselves by the elemental makeup of our planets, signs and houses. A must have for any astrologer.

I work in an environment where different approaches to guidance is important. Here Stephan Arroyo explores the ancient art of astrology as a technique which provides more insight to the client. Instead of seeing counseling as a cut and dry view, he invites you to examine the personality blueprint, utilizing theraputic approaches as an overlay. Very unique and creative approach to counseling.

This book showed me the use of astrology in relation with psychology. This is great because it give depth to both science. As a beginner, I thought the message was well delivered. I’m starting to get a feeling of what astrology is all about. Highly recommended.

This is an exceptional intermediate level astrology book. Great for those who want to understand astrology concepts in a bit more depth. This is definitely one of my favourites.

This book is timeless in its ability to serve humanity , it is totally holistic,and it has no boundaries or judgments,it is a beautifully creative wisdom filled connection to consciousness in its highest richest format, this all facilitates limitless growth for all who choose to have no boundaries or judgement in all there explorations. ステファン・アロヨStephen Arroyo(1946〜)に拠る、占星術と 心理学との、統合を述べた著書（'75年）で、CRCS出版"A MODERN CLASSICS"の一冊。 著者、アロヨ氏のプロフィールは、ルイス『占星術百科』にも、項目立てが、なさ れているが、大学での学位等を、多く獲得なされた方である事、そしてかのレグルス Regulus賞等、占星術界に於ける、誉れ高きアワードを、受けた方である事を 述べておこう。 関係各位への謝辞で、特筆すべきは、著者が、本書での、引用を許可下さった著者 ・出版社のリストを、挙げているのであるが、これが13冊分にものぼる事である。 たしかに、本編通読にあたり、レヴュアーは、著者に拠る引用文章の量は、なかな かなものだな、と思う事しばしばであったのであり、なかでも、氏が直接、師事なさ った、かのルディアD.Rudhyarのそれは、しばしば出て来る−余りにも出て 来るので、途中、ルディアの文章が主で、著者のそれが従であるかの如く、勘違いし そうになる位だ。 さて内容であるが、タイトルのなかの、2つの語である、占星術・心理学について は、Pt.1(〜p.68)が、そして、4つのエレメントについては、Pt.2( p.69〜170)が、それぞれ充てられており、これらが、占星術ならびにそれが "Counselling Arts"で用いられる事とが、結び付けられるさまが、 見事に論じられたものとなっている。 Chap.3以降は、アメリカでの占星術や、占星術がいにしえの神話の 代用となりうる事が、様々な角度から、くりかえし述べられる(レヴュアーいわく、 このへんの、くりかえしぶりは、かのルディアの文章をリアルタイムに読み、その影響 をダイレクトに受けた、著者ならではのもの、といえようか)。 Pt.2 冒頭Chap.9のタイトルは、「占星術:エネルギーの言語」。サブ・ タイトルにも用いられた、エネルギーの語が使用される。このPt.2からはエレメ ントやサイン、天体にかんする叙述と、それらを心理学や相性・人間関係と結び付け、 利用してゆくさまが述べられており、一通り、占星術の基礎を、学んだ方から、通読 を推奨させて頂く。

Whether you are new to astrology or a more experienced astrologer, this book should be on your shelf. A classic.
