Hose
If connecting to a water butt it is tight so gently put on,as it easy to split. It is rigid, flexible.

AVOID this pipe splits and this product may cost you your fish
Please AVOID this product if you want to keep your fish as its not fit for purpose. The main section of this 40mm pipe which is sold for aquatic use by an aquatic company i unfortunately installed when i recently increased the size of my pond . I had it running from the submerged pump to the external pressurised filter and for no reason it split all the way round and was hanging together literally by the metal thread after only a few days of use. I I discovered this when i found my pressurised filer and UV running dry and the cascade also dry. The pipe was appropriately fitted and jubilee clipped in place but it had split about 4 inches along the pipe away from the pump fitting. Thankfully on that occasion as the split was located 5ft deep in my pond the water remained in my pond as that's where it was escaping from the huge spilt. I complained to the seller as there is no way this should happen with new pipe and the seller did refund me. So I replaced this main section with a far higher quality 40MM pipe from a local aquatics centre however stupidly on my part I did not think to change the short section of this remaining pipe which was running externally from the filter to the oase divider which feeds the two return sources . To be honest it appeared to be fine no leaks etc.... This was a terrible decision on my part as today only a few days on from the first section splitting without cause thank god I went out to stretch my legs and discovered the external section of pipe had again split for no reason and my Koi pond was being emptied across the garden from yet another split in the last remaining section of this pipe!! It is not fit for purpose there is no way this should happen. This pipe failure was emptying my pond at a rate of 8000 litres per hour and I had very little water left in my pond!!! Another ten or 15 minutes later and I would have lost the last of the water and all of my fish I AM FUMING. This pipe is not fit for purpose. All other sections of pipe which i purchased locally and replaced are absolutely fine this pipe should be withdrawn from sale before it kills someone fish as it nearly did mine.... not to mention the several thousand litres of pond water all over my garden and stress to my fish.

Very flexible and compliant, just what the pond needs,
Due to aging of bein in the pond the pipework had become hard and furred up with blanket weed and general pond debris. Our many different kinds of fish were unluckily caught and eaten by a local heron last year. witnessed by our neighbour. We still have Great Crested newts in the pond so needing to keep the water nice and fresh for them was important. So myself and a friend cleaned up the pump and pulled off the old pipework and attached new lengths of the new pipe. Easy-peasy to do by someone who had never done it before. Only problem is we couldn't work out how the pipes went back to the filter to get filtered and return via the waterfall pipe to the pond so left that to someone who does! I eventually settled for the fountain from the pump and will get someone else to work out how to fix the waterfall/filter pipework..... Cant have our newts left without fresh pond water. Newts come to the water top to take a breath of fresh air in case you never knew that? they are air breathing and come out of the pond to wander around in the garden looking for food like small worms etc. So fitting a new pipe will help keep their wet world ready and fresh for them. Buy this pipe it will surprise you how flexible it is after the horrid stiff and unbending pipe already lurking in your pond. Happy pond making!
