A post on the frame of my gate was coming away from the wall it was screwed into. This happened because the tradesman who installed the gate put the fixing into the mortar rather than the bricks, so over time the mortar crumbled. I bought these thunderbolts as I read that they after drilling the correct size holes, 8mm in my case, the bolts would screw into the fence post and brick with no further fixings required. They worked perfectly and made a very secure fixing of gate post to wall. I will use these in future if I need to secure anything to brickwork.

These are very solid fixings and are brilliant in brickwork. On a previous application I used a 8mm masonry drill bit, which worked very well in brick, making the fixing very tight. On another occasion however, while drilling into a breeze block, the 8mm Hole is a bit tight, splitting the block while drilling closer to the edge. This time I used a 9mm drill bit, which made it a bit easier driving the bolts in but still a solid fit.

These are great, held a big gate post which had become unstable securely again to the wall. Used 10mm drill bit into the post and an 8mm drill bit into the masonry and it worked a treat.

Amazed by how solid these are. Used to hold metal brackets onto brick. Need a good drill to get a nice clean 8mm hole and a decent socket set to drive them in, but wow - really effective and much quicker than using expansion or sleeve bolts. Can also be used fairly close to a brick edge without fear of cracking which is handy.

I bought these bolts to hang a punch bag/pull up bar onto a brick garage wall. The bolts included with the bracket proved woefully inadequate. These Thunderbolt's are incredible, they provide a VERY strong bond, the deep threads cutting into the brick and they require no plugs ect. Be sure to use a 8mm drill bit for the pilot hole and a ratchet to screw the bolts in, this requires some effort!
