Good budget wheels with only minor issues for the price: 4.5 to 5 stars
I bought these wheels for my son's Cannondale R300. We're on a fairly tight budget and for a comparable wheelset in this price range, I'd be looking for something used on Craigslist. The wheels were boxed adequately and the QR skewers came in a little drawstring bag. Overall the wheels are attractive with the deep section rims and black bladed spokes. Lacing is 20 radial front and 24 2x rear. The spokes are evenly spaced around the hub, they are not the "paired spoke" design that is depicted. The graphics are a bit overdone in my opinion, so I removed all of the stickers with the exception of the more understated ones near the valve holes. The adhesive left a bit of residue that was easily removed with a citrus oil based cleaner. The front wheel arrived with a nice even braking surface and only minor lateral truing issues that were easily remedied. The rear wheel was true, but the rim weld was a bit off resulting in a seam on one side of the braking surface that would have caused a noticeable "pulse" in the rear braking action and exacerbated pad wear. The judicious use of a utility knife and some 150 grit sandpaper leveled it out adequately. Had the front wheel evidenced a similar seam problem I would have returned the wheelset as front braking smoothness is of paramount importance to me. The rim strips are relatively thin plastic with the valve openings somewhat elongated. As with many new rims, a slight burr was evident at the hole for the valve stem risking damage to the tube at the base of the stem. Best to remove the rim strip, deburr the hole, and ideally use Velox rim tape or a thicker/tougher rim strip. The bearings on both wheels evidenced just a bit more tightness that I care for, but not enough to motivate me to adjust them. I will reevaluate them after a few hundred miles of riding. You won't find anything even close to these wheels at this price. They're not perfect, but for our needs they fit the bill perfectly. I would certainly recommend them to others, just make sure to inspect them carefully for quality control issues as the manufacturer has to cut corners somewhere.

Great value wheel without sacrificing performance
So there I was, hammering down the road on my commuter bicycle when I was boxed into a pothole at the last second by a car. Did I say "pothole"? You could have hid a small elephant in this thing. I tried to hop this pit, but didn't get the back wheel across very well, and BAM! POP! WHOOSH! I am now off the road with a shredded tire, destroyed tube, and a wheel that is so far from round that it was gone before I even got the bike stopped. After a fair amount of Amazon reading, I chose these tires, and was very pleased with the purchase. For their cost, they are a good weight and I found both wheels to be extremely true. The spokes are faired and easily adjustable for future truing (spoke pattern/layout) when the roads abuse you. I have found the these wheels to remain more true than my stock wheels, requiring less frequent and less drastic adjustment. I run 700x23C Gatorskins, and they fit well in the rims. I bought these tires with primary purpose of commuting (30 miles round trip) over some fairly rough (for a road bike) spots and weekend training or bike club rides. I wanted something that may fall victim to a bike-eating pothole without crushing my soul and my wallet - but didn't want something so clunky that the miles and training rides would have me yearning for more performance. These wheels worked great for that. As with any tire in this price range, don't forget the rim tape as the included tape has the same protection as a strip of newspaper. Also, note the cassette type else you'll be in the market for more than just a wheel (which can also be fun and interesting). Happy riding!

Great wheels at a bargain price
I got these wheels to replace my damaged Mavic wheels and am very happy with them. The price (approximately $115 including shipping) was a bargain relative to other wheels costing 3 times more. Unlike some other reviewers, my wheels were not damaged in shipment (I was lucky I guess) and they were perfectly trued right out of the box. They already included rim strips so you dont need to buy those (I made the mistake of buying them, thinking that I would need them). They look really great too. I will confess that I ride bikes for fitness and am not one of those road racers that counts every gram of weight so I can't comment if these wheels compare to the super-expensive wheels that the pro-cyclist wanna-be's use. But for fitness buffs like me, they are fantastic....Highly recommended! I would buy them again.

Great all city wheel
Nice and sturdy for streets that are all beat up. Jumping curves, no problem. A little on the heavy side but you can't beat the price. Not to flashy, good for not attracting to much attention. Very pleased on the packing, delivering, and PRICE.

Affordable yet quality upgrade from cheap wheels
So far so good! This is a very affordable upgrade to a lower end bike for sure! As with cars, the single easiest way to change the whole appearance is the wheels. They even came with tape so that saved me the trouble of having to tape the rim myself. The skewers are ok, they work, but I will probably upgrade those. Also quick and easy way to convert from bolt-on axles to quick release. If I run into any issues Iโll update the review but so far pretty satisfied with these. Btw I used Kenda tubes with 48mm Presta valves and that was more than enough to clear the rim. Iโm using 700x32c Continental Ride Tour tires. Getting everything put together was pretty simple but Iโm glad I had one of those plastic tools for the end of the tire install!

Very nice wheels. Light and low wind resistance. Look good. No buzzing at higher speeds.
I like these wheels. It has enhanced my cycling enjoyment, and performance. Using them on a 1979 Raleigh and they fitted correctly. I left the Durability assessment empty. It is too early to say how they will last. I weigh about 240 lbf so they do get stressed by me. So far I have about 150 miles on them and they are doing fine. Anybody below 200 lbf should have no problems with durability.

Spokes Started Busting After A Half Year Of Hard Riding
Update: I'm no longer using these wheels. I broke a spoke on the rear wheel twice within a month. I ride an aluminum cyclocross bike with rack and two loaded panniers. I weigh 180 lbs. and I ride about 100 miles a week (I extend my commute on the way home in the mountains) on this bike and do a lot of climbing. So I was tough on these wheels but they were becoming a liability. I will say they rode quite nicely with the busted spoke, was able to get home fine both times without major brake rubbing. Just make sure to bend or remove the busted spoke so it doesn't get stuck in the rear derailleur. The repair guy at the local bike store claimed the spoke configuration isn't very reliable on these wheels. They're probably fine for ordinary riders, I was hoping that they'd take more of a beating. I've gone back to my 29er wheelset. Here's the earlier review... I've been riding on these wheels for about a month of everyday use. I'm a pretty serious rider and these things have been doing a great job for the money. The only issue I'd like to point out is a potential problem with the stem holes on the rims. I say potential because I'm not entirely sure what caused an usual flat I got on the very first long ride I took with these wheels. I got a flat on the rear wheel near the top of Mt. Hamilton and couldn't really pull off the road anywhere to safely change a flat (looking back, there were places but I can be dumb when I get in heavy duty climbing mode) and I rode about a quarter mile standing up to take some weight off. Changed the tire at the top and the puncture was right at the point where the rubber meets the metal from the stem. I can't say for sure that it was the wheel but I got the hole sanded at the LBS to be on the safe side based on another review. The back wheel did not need to be trued so I can vouch for the strength of these things. No problems with the wheels since that early incident. The labeling on these wheels is very understated. There's some user photos on this page that are showing the yellow "racing" Aeromax wheels. These are different. The lettering is red and doesn't really stand out. Certainly not like Zipps or Eastons. These are more plain looking black wheels, not flashy. As for weight they seem plenty light to me. I use a cyclocross frame and switched from Vuelta 29er wheels that used disc brakes. These are noticeably faster and lighter, which shouldn't be a surprise to anyone but made a big difference to me. My Avid V-brakes work great with these although I image the vast majority of people are going to be using callipers. I just used these wheels on the Markleeville Death Ride and they performed great, passing up plenty of people using much more expensive wheels.

Great wheelset
It would be really tough to find a better 700c wheelset than this in the price range, I think. Lightweight, great spokes, perfectly in true, and works with my 700x23 tires. I'm sure they would work great with 25mm and maybe 28mm tires as well. The only thing is you almost DEFINITELY need a cone wrench (I used a 14/15mm dual end Park Tools wrench) because the bearing cones are way overtightened, at least on mine. You can tell if they feel a bit "gritty" when you turn the axle. Added bonus: the stickers came off very cleanly when I pulled them off slowly, and now the rims look pretty fantastic.
