COOL FRESH AIR
I've always been a fan (no pun intended) of fresh air over AC. As an experienced DIYer, installation and wiring of the Tamarack Technologies HV1000 was straightforward and without incident. The only tricky part was calculating the exact placement in the upper level hallway ceiling so that the the truss roof system did not interfere with the operation of the self-sealing doors. I've been waiting for a warm day this spring to turn the unit on to see how well it cools our townhouse. It works great! Durability is yet to be determined.

Pretty easy install
I'm a big DIYer. I had an electrician put an outlet and did the rest. It took a few days but I'm happy with it now. I like the 2 speeds and it drops the temp 4-5 degrees. The grate doesn't hide the area in the ceiling well so I painted the wood black and that helps conceal it. Totally worth it! I love the remote functionality so I don't have to go up and down stairs to turn it on or off.

good unit
easy to install i had a big hole to start with a little louder than i had hoped but makes good white noise generator have to turn on attic fan to make it work well but that could be the the design of the attic

Pricey up front, but more than made up for it once in use
I was looking for a whole house fan, but needed the insulation feature since I'm in a bi-level, and the fan opened into living space. My brother installed the fan in the attic for me. Yes, you have to cut a hole in your ceiling, and he had to run both an electric outlet on the wall, and for the fan itself in the attic. The grate covering the fan, if it's installed on the ceiling, doesn't hide it well. It's designed more for a wall installation, I believe. I hid it in a central hallway next to a ceiling light so it wasn't as noticeable. When the switch is turned on, there's a delay, and a soft clicking sound as the insulated back flaps slowly open. After about a minute, a click, and then the fan turns on. It has very nice suction if you install it in a central location. All the heat that I typically have a problem with during the late summer and fall was sucked out in roughly 10 minutes. The fan easily lowered the temperature in the cooler evenings by 10 to 12 degrees when it sucked the hot air out and pulled in the cool afternoon/evening air. I ran it round the clock for almost six weeks until the heat hit the 90s and I had to turn on the AC. Now that I have my heat on, I haven't noticed any leakage around the fan or a spike in my bills indicating I have hot air leaking. It's sealed and holding well. Very pleased with its performance.

Trouble free and they work great
I have installed 3 of these in the last three houses I have owned. I have also installed several more for customers in their houses. They work great and I have never had a call back on one.

Quiet powerful fan
This fan was purchased to replace an older whole-house fan we installed probably over fifteen years ago. The older unit was a large single fan type. It was quite loud (annoyingly so) but very useful during the summer months. One difference between them is that the old fan speed could be controlled by a rheostat (we generally kept it at the lowest speed due to the noise factor). The new unit is either on or off. The new fan is much, much quieter. Power seems similar to the old unit but it's hard to quantify. None the less my wife and I like the new fan more than the older unit. We ordered the fan from Amazon and it arrived on the date expected. We are very satisfied Amazon customers and have had no negative experiences with this company to date, and we do order lots of stuff through them.
