This is a small machine that is easy to access on the table along with all the papers n more things on it. It is good to cut out cute little embellishments or sentiments for cards. The tag dies and all along with it are great to use as with all things Tim Holtz. I didn't have a die cutting machine so this was a good start!

I purchased this, because I wanted a smaller machine, not always hauling out the Bigkick I have. It fits most of the smaller dies which I think is key to making it useful. I picked this one instead of the white version, because I liked the accompanying dies better, they are more useful, yet would have preferred white as the machine. It comes with the plates and embossing plate - you can get started with it immediately. It is sturdy when you put the leaver down. I was very happy about that! There are "side order" sets (small die sets) which are cute, but have limited use (IMO) and are a bit fiddly unless you put some sort of adhesive on the back of your cutting material. They are also a bit expensive in Canada. However, the embossing folders that come with them are good. Any thin "strip-type" regular embossing folders will also fit - like the ones that come with cricut folders. I was trying to make my own embossing template (as I often do with the bigkick), but don't always get the right sandwich or impression, depending on the material used. Still experimenting with that. I broke the plate that came with the machine while doing this - yeah!... But I purchased a couple more from Scrapbook.com. Depending what you are doing and if you need embossing - you may still have to take out your larger machine. I still think it is great for a lot of the smaller dies when you are just doing something small and quick while using up small scraps from your stash.

Great choice in a die cutter if your space is limited. I purchased this for crafting in our motorhome. So glad that I did!

So pleased with this little machine. Perfect for die cutting smaller pieces & small enough to keep on hand in small crafting spaces. If you're working on a project that needs many smaller die cuts this is great to move about with & die cut on the go. Very easy to use. I'm still getting the hang of my X cut Xpress & the Sidekick is perfect for all the die cutting you don't need the full size platform for. If you're just starting out crafting this is a great little machine to begin with. I wasn't sure whether I needed this but I've realised many of my dies are perfect for this machine & it's so much easier & faster to grab this. Highly recommended.

I have to say I wasn't planning on getting this, but circumstances change and necessity overruled. I had the original red Sidekick but hadn't used it for years. When this new one came out I didn't think I needed it, which I didn't. Tim Holtz explained in videos that if you just bought the new cutting plates they would work in the original red machine. I did and they worked beautifully and I was using my old buddy again on a regular basis along with my Big Shot. After a few months, it started making noises and getting harder to turn the handle. The bearings went on it....... I waited for the price to drop on this brown one and got it. No regrets! It sits on my desk along with my Big Shot, and gets a tremendous amount of use. It has become one if my top 3 tools now. I make cards daily and with the tiny sized 'thinlits' becoming more and more popular for detailed die cutting, this has become invaluable to me. I've had it about 2 months now and already on my second set of cutting pads. If the 'thinlit' fits in it, I use the sidekick. It gets a tremendous amount of use. I'm almost embarrassed to say I use it more then my Big Shot. No regrets here!
