Nutritious and Versatile Grain
I've been incorporating Shiloh Farms' organic sorghum grain into my meals, and it's been a delightful addition. The grains are clean and cook up nicely with a pleasant, nutty flavor and chewy texture. It's a fantastic gluten-free alternative to other whole grains. I've used it in salads, soups, and even popped it like popcorn for a healthy snack. The quality is consistent, and I appreciate that it's USDA Organic certified. Overall, it's a great product for those looking to diversify their grain options with something wholesome and organic.

Great stuff
I add this to my maltomeal or cream of rice depending on what I'm eating that morning. It adds good texture/flavor plus the extra health benefits make me feel like my carb heavy breakfast is a bit healthier. I tried chia seed in my breakfast and it gave me terrible acne, but I started using sorghum or millet instead for that extra texture/crunch and it doesn't harm my skin. I just boil it for a few minutes before adding the rest of the cereal. Makes it really good

Think outside the box to add more flavor.
Welll... so far I've cooked up one batch of sorghum. It's different. Not that it's horrible on it's own, it just doesn't seem to have a lot of flavor. We discussed what you could to add to it. Cook it in chicken or vegetable broth? Add gravy or cream of mushroom soup? Add onion, fresh mushrooms, parsley and some garlic --powder or fresh-- and maybe some chopped fresh broccoli? I've had it as a side dish with meat; I've added it to scrambled eggs with cheese. In all instances it was edible and depending on what else was added, actually became tasty. The texture is somewhat unique and you do really have to cook it for at least an hour or it won't be tender. Considering it has almost no lectins, I guess I'll keep buying and cooking--thinking outside the box to come up with flavorful ways to enhance. I'm thinking the next time I roast a whole chicken, I may add some previously cooked sorghum to cook in the juices---Hmmm. What about a pot roast with carrots, onion, mushrooms and sorghum? That might be really good. Don't be afraid to give it a try and to experiment a little with added ingredients

Tasty and Nutritious Grain
I like that they're organic. Very good and easy to cook in a rice cooker, and the nutrition is top notch. This will be one of my main grains going forward.

Not Great for Popping
I bought this as a substitute for pop corn. It doesn't even come close. The taste is okay but it only pops about 30% and the kernels are very small. I tried it in a pan and with an air popper.

Best brand for organic sorghum
I've order this product several times and have also tried organic sorghum from other companies and this is by far the best, fluffiest, tastiest of all I have had. Great in soups, salads, and egg dishes. Never gets mushy or dry. Love the nutty flavor. It is always important to sort and rinse sorghum. I have found tiny pebbles and also once a little, curled up worm (it was dead, of course). But that also can happen with beans and lentils. As long as you rinse and sort, you can't go wrong. Use 1 cup sorghum to 3 cups water, add to a pan and turn the heat up high. Once it comes to a rolling boil turn down to simmer and put a lid on it. Check back in an hour. Once the water is absorbed, it is ready. Enjoy!
