As the description states on Amazon, don't confuse this with plastic ice chest style 12v coolers. This is a heavy duty unit with steel construction. As such, it's weight is heavy so it's a trade off there. But if you need a large capacity heavy duty unit, this will work for you. This has a large capacity. The removable wire baskets make it easy to fill and empty out food and drinks. The controls are easy to access and manage. It appears well made heavy duty construction with a nice fit and finish. I harvested a large mule deer in Montana. All of the boned out meat from the entire deer was easily fit into both sides of the fridge/freezer. I adjust temps on both sides down to quickly cool the meat. A thousand miles later I arrived home, and the meat was perfect and ready to process. It would have easily frozen the meat on both fridge and freezer sides, had I elected to turn the temps down lower. No more large ice chests, messing with ice or dry ice to keep harvested game meat from spoiling! Interior was easy and simple to clean. I also use this unit as my fridge/freezer in my Ford Transit for long trips and camping. The capacity of this unit should keep a couple of people in food and drink for a week or so. I run it off the vehicle while traveling, and off a portable solar generator (Jackery) at night. Works perfect. The unit is quiet and did not bother us when sleeping just a few feet away. I highly recommend this unit.

Glad I bought this. Have been running it for over 6 months without issue. It is sturdy, metal encased, on sturdy rollers, holds the temperature accurately. It loads form the top and has top loading removable wire baskets. It has 2 separate compartments with separate temperature setting control so one side can be a freezer and the other side a refrigerator, Runs on 12vDC and 115vAC - I have these set up so that if one fails it fails over to the other source without interruption. Even if I lose all power IT REMEMBERS THE TEMPERATURE SETTING when power is restored which is a feature I love! (Note: some competitors units do not remember the temperature setting and will default to zero degrees when the power returns, which IMO is bad design.) It is pretty quiet for a unit this size. Only negative is that my unit arrived with a small dent in the side which did not affect functionality so I lived with it. I figured that I would be moving this unit around and will probably put bigger dings in it over its lifetime. You can pay less for some other portable refrigerators, but with this one you are paying for sturdiness, functionality and reliability. All in all I would recommend this one.

We purchased this to have extra freezer capacity in our RV, first trip out we were cooking for 10 people for several days. It worked great, we have two 12 volt golf cart batteries powering our RV when dry camping. The Whynter fridge/freezer seems to be very energy efficient. We ran a generator about twice a day to recharge our batteries, we were also running the furnace at night. W are very pleased with the fridge/freezer!!

Awesome quiet lil fridge, bought it a few weeks ago and set it up last night. I'm using it as an outside fridge to keep the beer cold while playing in the pool. I filled it last night and this morning it was 38°. Easy to set temp, comes also with wheels if you want to make it easier for someone to steal it. I'm not a believer in moving appliances that refrigerate as the vibration from moving it may break welds on the copper piping and create a freon leak. So mine is stationary on my back covered patio. The doors on this unit latch shut for maximum efficiency and you can put a small lock on each door. It came with a cigarette lighter adapter for use on the road, I'm guessing if you're going camping. I am using the AC connection and it's plugged into the wall in my backyard.

so purchased this unit in dec 2020 for 960.00 from amazon..... I was using this refig/freezer in my motorhome for about a year..... I disconnect the frig for storage.... Then in dec 2024 I went to use the motorhome and plugged this unit in and it was not cooling... making noise like it was working but not getting cold ... I contacted customer service and went thought test that they recommended and still not working... so I contacted CS again to tell them that this unit is dead! They said it was out of warranty... and can not be repaired... So this unit was not abused and only used for about a year and is now dead... Not Acceptable..... they offered a 40 present discount off of list price on a new unit... which is what Amazon normally sells them for <<<DO NOT BUY>>> <<<DO NOT BUY>>>

Tested when the unit arrived with 2 gallons of water. One gallon in each compartment to test whether it would freeze rapid and it took 2 days and was still liquid in middle. However, if ice cream placed frozen in freezer compartment remained frozen. The fridge was chilled to set temp. Dislike is the transfer of merchandise into and out of the 2 compartments, Freezer and Fridge. Pull out milk other product something falls into the void. Food products aren't sized to fit neatly with each other nor be stacked. Like the energy usage and size @ 90 quarts. Yet for my need, I am happy with shortcomings. For Space, I would've liked a standup unit. When the lids are opened it required another 14 inches clearance in height. For the three weeks I've had it I've used 120 Volts and have yet to use 12 volts. That's the next test with a 7amp hour 12-volt battery. Cause of the 7 amp hour size I don't expect much cause it's a test and I don't have a larger permanent battery bank yet. It will test low voltage cutoff for the battery charging circuit as well the units protection circuit. I need to review that circumstance.

Lasted about seven years, then we replaced it with the same. Wife loves it.

Great fridge/freezer options. This thing is built strong and is heavy, but if you put it on a slider in a camper or truck bed it's worth it. I have mine on a solar, dual battery setup and it only draws 0.05 amps at idle. One compartment cooling compressor was about 2.45 amps for a min or 2 max every 20 mins. If you open both compartments while cooking or something or would run at 5.8 to 6.2 amps for one to two mins and then back to idle. It did very well on the first trip this weekend.
