Amazon Basics College Ruled Composition Notebook, 100 Sheet, Solid Black, 4-Pack

I do leather crafting and made some nice leather covers for my Nephew and Niece for their school composition books. They like stuff like that and they are into the fine lines so I bought them college rule books to send with the covers. As I always say I try to buy Amazon Basics any time I can as they always seem to have the best price and the quality never lets me down. The cardboard covers are very sturdy and slide into the leather covers so nicely. I know these are just composition books but I do recommend them for anyone looking for a nice quality value pack. I bought these on a whim—I was ordering some other books and knew I’d want something to takes notes on them in, so I added these. These are definitely better than the composition books or other ruled notebooks you’d find at an office supply store or Target or whatever. The paper is heavier and the covers feel a little sturdier (which is nice, because I put notebooks through hell). I’m sure these are a little pricier than a similar notebook at Target etc but I think they’re a little higher quality. I also like that I can get them in plain black because I hate patterned covers.

These are by far my favorite notebooks to use. They don't transfer too much ink like other notebooks I have had in the past. They are sturdy and last a long time!

These are cheap notebooks, which makes sense since they are cheap. Made in Mexico, they are sewn (as it says on the back). Corners rounded. Covers of medium thickness - must be 80lb card stock (my guess). Certainly not hardbound. Paper is thin, line printing is about average - not too dark, not too light. Rated down a little because the stitching is off-center. It's the same on all 4 books in my package. This means that the back half of the book doesn't lie quite as flat as it could. I consider this a minor annoyance (it is a cheap book). BUT - the paper is fountain pen friendly. Little to no feather or bleed, even with wet vintage flex nib. I would consider both sides of the page perfectly usable. Papers made outside the U.S. are much more likely to work well with ink pens, and this does. The 4 rating reflects the overall cheapness of the construction, and the off-center stitching. You want perfect - buy (and pay for) Rhodia.

The product is good. It's paper with a binding. What's not to love? Of course, I miss the days when you could get these for a buck each, but I checked everywhere and this was the best price. I'm using them as I teach myself Spanish during the pandemic... Only wish they were available in different colors in the bulk packs.

I participate as a volunteer in several organizations and use these composition books for taking notes. The front cover has the name and start date. I can pick up a composition book, throw it in my handbag and head out the door. I now have a collection of composition books that span years of activism. Handy…

These are good, sturdy, composition books. Would love if they came in more colors.

The first order arrived damaged but second time around these notebooks arrived in great condition sealed in shrink wrap. I remember my Meads from high school, the classic composition books with speckled motif which is making a comeback, and those were thick and top notch. Also the ones from Chapters with botanical motifs were lovely but I have not seen them since the mid 2000s. Now these might be cheaper quality but they are decent for anything you might need them for. Some folks prefer all notebooks the same. I liked consistency when I was more organized, so I am going back to that. Simple, but consistent. These can be reinforced, embellished, painted and customized to anyone’s liking. I might experiment with these to see what the covers can handle and turn a couple to scrapbooks and use the others as notebooks. Provided Amazon will keep making them, I foresee many more in my future. They are the cheapest bundle for 4 notebooks.

I love these notebooks. The only thing that would make them better would be perforated pages for easier removal. Pages are great, pens run smoothly along the surface and the cover is sturdy. Highly recommend and would buy again and again if they become available in the future.

First off, I find the price for these to be too high. I started back college last week and got these in spite the price because I dislike writing on binder sheet style books. The quality of these are good but I’ve had better for cheaper.
