Govee E12 Bulbs: Bright, Reliable, and Worth the Price
I’ve already reviewed the excellent Govee A19 bulbs (1000 lumens) and the more disappointing BR30s (850 lumens). The E12 bulbs were the last piece in replacing all the lights throughout my home. Thankfully, they’re much more in line with the quality of the A19s than the BR30s. Despite having fewer lumens than the other two, you’d never notice. These bulbs are impressively bright for their size, which says a lot about Govee’s consistency and design. As I’ve mentioned in previous reviews, setup is quick and painless. Screwing in the bulbs honestly takes longer than getting them online. You connect via Bluetooth in the Govee app, and from there, you can switch the bulbs over to your Wi-Fi network. The app gets the job done, controls are intuitive, but it still feels like it could use some visual polish and refinement. Once everything’s connected, performance is solid. Color changes are smooth, and the bulbs integrate well with Alexa and Google Assistant (HomeKit support is still clunky, even with Matter). While the app gives you the most control, basic automation works fine through your preferred smart home platform. Overall, these are great bulbs even if a bit pricier than their A19s or BR30s equivalents. Still, for those finishing off a smart lighting setup, they’re absolutely worth considering.

Easy to connect
Easy to connect and configure, good lighting illumination. I enjoy the ability to change to any color of my choice. In fact, its a daily play for my kids, change the colors, intensity. I think it's a great addition to home lighting.

Pricey, but 100% worth it for the reliability (Matter compatible!)
I’ve been using smart bulbs almost exclusively for several years now, and Govee has become the brand I trust the most. I recently got this 4-pack to replace a set of Sengled bulbs, and the quality is just so much better. The "Easy to Install" Factor - This is the best part. It was a total breeze to get these connected to my network and synced with Alexa. I’m a tech-friendly person, but even a low-tech person could install these bulbs without a headache. Unlike cheaper bulbs I’ve tried, the connectivity is flawless and they don't constantly drop off. The Matter Premium - I will say, I’ve noticed the prices on Govee products have crept up over the years (what hasn't, though?), and they’re now at the higher end as far as cost goes. These bulbs are Matter compatible, and it seems like you pay a premium for that aspect. However, for me, the tradeoff is completely worth it because the performance is so consistent. The Verdict - I’ve never actually had a Govee bulb go bad on me. It's still a great value for your money because you aren't constantly replacing them like the cheap brands. My best tip is to keep an eye on these and stock up during Prime Days!

Customer Service for an amazing product
Will be a lifelong customer. These lights and the app are fabulous. They are so easy to set up (no hub required). I love that you can completely adjust the color & brightness to your liking. And it works seamlessly with Alexa. I can be the laziest person and turn on all or some of my lights from the couch. I did run into an issue with one bulb that stopped working. Their customer service team immediately corrected the issue for me. And that is why I will be a forever customer.

Great but doesn't work in a dimmable fixture
Wifi, color changing, scheduling the on/off timer, grouping bulbs to control them together all works great. These bulbs will not work in a dimmable fixture, and they revert back to the original color temperature (dentist office white) if they are turned on/off with the wall switch instead of being turned on with the app. I missed the return windows so since the fixtures bought these for are dimmable I'm out $100 for the 6 E12 bulbs. Annoying.

Smart Candelabra Bulbs with Matter Support - Perfect
Finding smart bulbs for candelabra fixtures has always been challenging. These Govee E12 bulbs finally deliver the combination of proper form factor, Matter compatibility, and full smart features that makes decorative lighting both beautiful and intelligent. The E12 candelabra base fits perfectly in chandeliers, sconces, and decorative fixtures that use smaller bulbs. The bulb size and shape look appropriate in these fixtures rather than appearing bulky or out of place. This matters tremendously for visible lighting where aesthetics count as much as functionality. Matter support is the standout feature that future-proofs these bulbs. Matter provides universal compatibility across smart home platforms, so you are not locked into one ecosystem. Works seamlessly with Alexa, Google Assistant, Apple HomeKit, and any future Matter-compatible systems. True interoperability that eliminates platform lock-in. Color accuracy and range are excellent. The RGBWW spectrum delivers vibrant saturated colors when you want them and warm to cool whites for everyday use. The colors look natural and accurate, not washed out or artificial. Transitions between colors are smooth without flickering or jumping. Brightness is impressive for candelabra bulbs. These put out plenty of light for their size, easily illuminating rooms or providing adequate ambient lighting. You can use them as primary lighting in smaller spaces or accent lighting in larger areas. The dimming range goes from very dim to surprisingly bright. The WiFi connectivity is rock solid. Setup through the Govee app takes minutes and the bulbs stay connected reliably. No random disconnects, no need to reset bulbs constantly. They just work consistently day after day. Reliable connectivity makes smart bulbs practical rather than frustrating. Voice control integration works flawlessly. Commands through Alexa or Google Assistant execute instantly. Saying "turn the dining room lights blue" or "dim the chandelier to 20 percent" works perfectly every time. Natural language processing understands commands without requiring specific phrasing. The Govee app provides extensive control and customization. Create scenes, set schedules, adjust colors with precision, configure automation. The interface is intuitive without being overwhelming. Both simple operations and advanced configuration are accessible. Group control capability is essential for chandeliers with multiple bulbs. Group all the bulbs together and control them as one unit. No more having each bulb respond separately or at different times. Synchronized control makes multi-bulb fixtures work like a single smart light. Energy efficiency is excellent. These LED bulbs use minimal power compared to traditional incandescent candelabra bulbs while providing equivalent or better light output. Lower electricity bills plus all the smart features make the upgrade economically sensible. Build quality feels premium. The bulbs have good weight and the construction feels solid. The base threads smoothly into sockets. Everything about them suggests quality manufacturing rather than cheap imported goods. They feel like they will last. Temperature stability is notable. Even after hours of operation, these bulbs run cool enough to touch. No concerns about heat damage to fixtures or fire hazards. Proper thermal management extends bulb life and ensures safety. Music sync and dynamic effects add entertainment value. The bulbs can pulse to music or run color transitions for parties and special occasions. Fun features that enhance the smart lighting experience beyond basic on-off-dim control. For anyone with candelabra fixtures wanting smart lighting, these Govee E12 bulbs deliver everything you need. Proper form factor, Matter compatibility, full smart features, and reliable performance. Transform decorative lighting into smart lighting without compromise. Highly recommend.

Works Well...Matter Still Needs Work, But Bulbs Are Solid
I picked these up specifically because they support Matter, since I'm trying to future proof my smart home. Setting the bulbs up wasn't exactly a walk in the park...took me a few attempts to get everything synced up with my Matter ecosystem (using a mix of Apple HomeKit and Alexa). But honestly I don't think that's on Govee or the bulbs. Matter as a protocol is still kinda finding its feet and there are a lot of little quirks that can make first time setup a headache, no matter what brand you use. Once I got the bulbs paired, though, they worked exactly as expected! responsive, vivid colors and the integration through Matter is seamless now after jumping through some hoops initially. If you're willing to tinker a bit and understand that Matter itself just isn't totally polished yet, these are a great choice. I'm hoping the protocol gets better because the hardware is definitely ready for it. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend, just be patient with the setup if your smart home is more complicated!

Garbage
Maybe I got a bad batch but I’m frustrated with them enough that I’m not going to try any more. # of the 4 will not stay connected to my WiFi. The one that will takes 30-40 seconds to respond when I turn it off or on. I wanted one by my garbage cans that would turn on at night when I open the garage door. It’s so slow to respond that I can take the garbage out and be back in the garage before it turns back on. You might be think it’s my WiFi but here’s my setup. Deco mesh, 6 nodes, 4 of them Ethernet backhaul. I have less than 40 clients and it supports 500. I’m installing them in my dining room chandelier before putting them outside. The chandelier is about 10’ from one of the Ethernet nodes. Anywhere in the house my connection is maxed out on signal strength and I get 600 MBPs (my IP’s) max everywhere; in the front yard where the light would go I get in the 400s with the connection still strong. Like I said, maybe I got a bad batch but I also hate the app, I hate the setup process and they are a pain to add to HomeKit. It’s the worst smart home app I’ve used from a reputable smart home device company.
