First, the product is truly odorless, and I've noticed zero ill effects from using it indoors. I'm far from being an oil painter, but I reach for this often. It works as advertised for anything oil/wax based. If you're an amateur or otherwise can't afford to spend money on professional grade colored pencils, crayons, or oil pastels...grab Gamsol. For people who've never used solvents before: find a small glass jar, label it, and then pour much less than you think you'll need. You can then use a cheap brush or even dip your pastel, pencil, etc. directly into the jar. Just remember to tap away any excess. You'll notice dissolved pigment sitting at the bottom of the jar after a while, but it's not a problem unless you stir it up. Eventually (think weeks), you'll want to gently pour off the Gamsol and discard the sediment... but not the 'used' Gamsol. It's still good. Note that Gamsol evaporates slowly. If you're a bit overzealous, you'll get what appears to be an oil stain. However, it will dry, and your paper will be just fine.

Absolutely zero order, smells like nothing. After awhile it will start to take on odor from the paint sediment, but I can use the same jar for about 6 or 8 months without needing to change it out.

If you paint with oils, this stuff is essential. I'm not quite sure what more I can add. I use two kinds of thinner: this stuff gamsol and also lavender oil, which is wonderful but incredibly expensive. I use both. If you are painting oil and you need to cut the thick stuff that comes out of the tube, this is the correct thing to use. Pricewise it is fairly priced.
