Prefect reading and many other uses
I'm the kind of person that truly counts on reviews to guide my selection. Hence I felt compelled to review this light for others as I'm so pleased with this light. I basically bought this for my wife because she liked to read at night to fall asleep. I know how much she enjoys reading at night, yet it would be very irritating for me, especially if I had a long day and just wanted to fall asleep. So that began my search for a reading light. For our use, I needed: - Something that would clip onto the headboard - and stay on. The headboard shelves are about 3/4 inch thick. This light clips on and could probably clip on shelves up to an inch. It stays put even when being adjusted. Bonus, it clips on thick towel racks too. - Adjustable so that light did not shine on me (about 2 feet away in king bed) whiles she reads but doesn't cast so much light as to light up the rest of the room (it meets both criteria). - The neck is quite long, easily adjustable and stays in the configuration it was adjusted to (it doesn't change shape after adjusted) - Bright enough to read comfortably from about 2-3 feet away. The light has two settings and a double-bubble type lens over the LED bulbs. One or both bulbs can be turned on. From 3 feet away, she still prefers the lower setting (fine with me, saves battery life) - Uses standard batteries (it takes 3 AAA) batteries. Both NiCd and NiMh rechargeable batteries work great too. We're using 800mA NiMh low-self-discharge (LSD) batteries (made by tenergy). So far, we haven't recharged them even after about 30 hours of use. But even cheap NiCd rechargeable would probably last over 20 hours. No tools are needed to change the batteries. Now for the pleasant surprises: - There is no banding from the bulbs or lens when reading. It's a pure, smooth, tranquil, consistent light (white LED light, not warm like an incandescent bulb or candle - which we like) - It's tough! My two year old daughter ripped it off the headboard a few times by its neck. It still holds its shape and shows no trauma - The push-button switch is on the head, so my wife doesn't have to reach far to turn it off - It's surprisingly useful around the house and outside. I've `borrowed' it a few times to work on the car, it clips right on to the hood or the stick shift for working under the dashboard etc. - I `borrowed' it again to work on the sump pump by clipping it onto a shelf and aiming it at the pump - I find I `borrow' it more and more. I used it one night for just enough light to treat and remove a yellowjacket nest (best done at night when they are dormant) - Finally, I've read that if you wake up in the middle of the night, turning on lights can make it harder to go back to sleep. So I took it into the bathroom, clipped it on a thick towel rack and read until sleepy again - without having to turn on the lights. So, I'll be ordering at least 2 more for reading and more for use around the house so that I don't have to borrow my wife's. I'm sure there are better options out there for more of a utility-type light, but this one is handy for reading and working, lasts forever on rechargeable batteries and is tough. I'm thrilled with it.

Good little book light
Because my wife likes to get to sleep a little before me, I needed a light that wouldn't disturb her as much. This light fits that bill in two regards. First of all it is not as big as other book lights I have owned. It will easily work on hard covers, and if you are reading a soft cover book you can clip it the cover and some pages of the book itself to help out. When you get to toward the end of the book just magically remove the book light and place it on the front cover with twenty pages or so! For me this is not a real inconvenience. It also work on my Kindle cover with the front part of the clip between my kindle and the cover itself. The second thing that makes this product perfect for me is the two brightness settings. They are both pretty bright, but being able to turn it down a level makes the wife happy. My only complaint is that the clip can be slick on some book covers. This isn't as big of a deal, but it can slide at times. Overall this is a nice book light for the money.

Great Little Light!
I bought this light with the AC adapter. I highly recommend spending the extra few dollars - money well spent) In fact I have had the light and Kindle since 2/11 and have not put batteries in yet. I use it while reading in bed and I have a plug close by. The light, on the brightest setting, does not disturb my husband. It just takes a bit of adjusting and it makes reading pure bliss. It can cause a glare but you just need to move the light a fraction of a inch and no more glare. I can clip it on my Kindle case or have clipped on bedside lampshade when reading a magazine. It is extremely flexible and I cannot think of a single reason not to purchase this product! Get the one with the adapter - you won't regret it. 10/24/2011 Just checking in to say I would give this another star if I could! I use it so much - not just for my Kindle. Plus, still haven't put batteries in it yet. Where ever I've wanted to use it - there has always been a plug close by. I will repeat my advise from my first review - get the light with th AC adapter!! 10/23/2013 Still using daily and NO complaints. Never used battery option. LOVE the adapter and size. Oh, and it puts out plenty of light. 3/13/2015 Use it just about every night. I've had it for over four years. I've never had to replace a bulb. Gives off just thr right amount of light to read by but not bright enough to bother your bedmate. Takes a licking and keeps on lighting. I know - it doesn't rhyme but you get the gist of what I am saying. I have purchased a second one. I use batteries in this one. It isn't used a lot so hard to judge battery life/usage. I still say buy the one that has both options - battery & AC adapter. 6/25/2016 Both lights still working with same bulbs. I certainly would buy again!

Only 5 stars because I can't give it 10 stars
This light is an engineering masterpiece. It is the perfect solution for lighting up my laptop keyboard. I've also begun using it for the few books I read that aren't on Kindle, including one on keeping produce fresh. Like other reviewers, I've already ordered a second one and can see ordering more, in black or other colors, for other uses and especially, for holiday gifts. LATEST DISCOVERY: I didn't realize why the clip worked so very well. It's because it has small, soft rubber pads inside the mouth of the clip, which ensure even better grip without so much pressure. It clips onto various places on my laptop or sits with the tiniest footprint on its stable base (because of the battery weight), right up against the keyboard. The three light settings are more than enough to light up my 17-inch keyboard without glare and with its tiny head and thin flex neck, it's easy to position the device so as not to block your field of vision to the screen. To sum it up, this light gets top marks on the overall design, the clamp, the base, the neck, the soft and sure light switch, the lighting in either light mode and its general very low profile. I would pay $20 or $25 for a Mighty Bright without blinking an eye. I believe what Amazon buyers are all benefiting greatly from is very low prices based on mass sales generated by listing beneath the great Amazon name. Additional info: This light replaces an excellent, but quite bulky light I've used on my laptop keyboard, SE FL89020L 20 LED Silver Lamp Light, for $9.17 on Prime. I'll find other uses for the FL89020L, including duty holding down a tent flap in a gale. I will also include my stock comment about batteries: All batteries, including button style, are so affordable now with Amazon as not to be a factor in the vast majority of battery powered gadgets. When you can get five Sony button batteries on Amazon prime for $3.18 total, cost is no longer an issue, IMHO. **May come back later and update. I've ordered over 100 items in the last 3-4 years on Amazon and would rate this light in the top 5 products overall. Amazing.

Good little light
I use this light for late-night Kindle-reading in bed while the wife is sleeping. Single LED light is plenty of light in a dark room. Heh - do NOT shine this around the room with both LEDs turned on. If you've ever seen a vampire movie, you know what happens when you flash these in your wife's eyes in the middle of the night... No, she doesn't poof into dust - but somebody WILL die. A couple of nit-picks: 1) Requires 3 AAA batteries. I use rechargeables quite a bit and can only recharge 2 at a time... Require 2 or 4. (I know; I'm picky.) 2) I did NOT like the clamp mechanism at all. The handle is slippery and takes a couple of tries every night to get it clamped in place. If you're not going to move this light all the time, that may not be a big deal for you. I also use an Oberon cover for my Kindle and have a hard time getting the light to stay in place... 3) Field of light seems pretty wide to me. Of course, this depends on how high you have that neck. For my use so far, the light placement gives me a range of light that looks more suited to landscape vs. portrait. I personally like the long neck, though I've seen a couple of complaints here about it. For me, that long neck makes it relatively easy to shift the light to minimize glare while keeping the head out of my way. I usually shift it to the left or right of my Kindle and take advantage of that wide field of light. On-off switch is easy to locate in the dark. The switch is located right at the top of the head, over the lamps. First click for both lamps; second click for just one. I rarely use both lamps, so can't really comment on the shadows or quirks that LED lights sometimes have with multiple lamps. Battery life seems fine so far. I estimate 8-9 hours of use on my rechargeables with no degradation yet. Good light for the price, all-in-all.

Excellent Light and Many Uses
The lighting in my house seems terrible, at least for me. Additionally, at night, I was unable to use a lamp if my wife wanted to go to sleep and I wanted to continue reading. This little gem now allows me to have perfect lighting to read at night and not disturb my wife. I ended up purchasing a portable desk, also on Amazon, and this clips perfectly to the desk so I don't even need to clip it to a book. There are two settings...high with 2 LED's on, and low with 1 LED on. I like using high when there is other light in the room, but inadequate light for reading. I like using low when the room is completely dark. I've also attached the light to a "normal" desk to give me some well-needed light in my music studio. If you want, there is also an AC plug for an adapter (not included) if you didn't want to use the batteries. The gooseneck is very flexible, but sturdy at the same time after positioning it. Very happy with the purchase.

Pleased!!
I have been using the light for several weeks now and I am very pleased overall. I bought this light for two reasons. One was the price and two because it used the less expensive AAA and not those crazy expensive CR batteries. CR batteries are highway robbery!!!! Don't throw you're your money away!! It has a jack for a power cord, but didn't come with it(???) The instructions are not clear if you could fill it with rechargeable batteries and get the power cord to charge them. Either way, the quality is actually really good. I did not expect much quality at all for this price. The flexible head is very stable and stays put. I am still using the same batteries and the light is still going strong. Mine has a high and low setting. The high (both LEDs) is way too bright for me, but the low (single LED) is just right to illuminate two pages for bedtime reading. The lights are set in the head in a way that makes them only shine down on the page and not in your eyes. The clip has soft foam in it and opens really wide and is very secure. For the sake of fairness, the only two negative things that I can say about the light is that the high/low switch is right in the place where you need to grab the light head to adjust the position, so you end up turning it off or to a different setting while trying to adjust it. The other is that the clip section is kind of big and heavy with the AAA batteries in it and is especially noticeable with paperback books. I expected it to be heavy, but went with it anyway b/c of the whole CR battery deal above. Those two negatives don't bother me much at all. I would still recommend the light.

Ah...my seemingly never-ending book light quest has ended!:)
I think I've only reviewed 3 items out of the many (many:) I've purchased here. Very few things excite me enough to take the time. However, since I've literally spent years searching for a book light that met all my requirements, I know how frustrating it can be. I, myself, really rely on reviews before I order something so figured I'd throw in my two-cents here in hopes that it might help some of my fellow "searchers". Up until a month ago, I believe I've purchased all but 2 of the book lights offered here and wasn't particularly happy with any of them. Last month I finally ordered the one made by iKross. After carefully reading all the reviews, I was convinced it was "the one". It very well might have been but I've no way of judging since no matter how I tried, couldn't get the darn battery cover off! I re-read the reviews to see if I missed any mention of that problem...nothing. But, I DID see one post asking for feedback from a gal that was having the same issue but no one ever answered her inquiry. My luck that out of all those that have been sold, we seem to be the only 2 that had that problem:) Called Amazon customer service. They tried to locate the vendor's direct contact number but couldn't access it. Without my asking, rep credited my account with a refund and didn't even ask me to return the product. Amazon's prices may not always be the lowest but I've always felt their customer service and return policy was the best of any of the many websites I utilize:) Then I ordered the only one remaining...this little treasure. I was looking for a light that I could use with a book, my Kindle Keyboard as well as my wireless keyboard. Having reached my senior years, my eyes need a brighter light to do everything. They are also very sensitive so I need one that's not too glaring as well. Disturbing anyone that might be near me should it be TOO bright isn't an issue for me:) PROS: The biggest plus IMHO for this one...as well as the iKross...is the fact they both take "regular" batteries. No way did I want to get stuck needing a more expensive, harder to obtain "fancy" battery. Love the way the switch works and its two-levels of brightness. Clips on well for a regular book and isn't top-heavy so it doesn't "droop" at all. Range of motion of the arm is great! Position it exactly where I want,no glaring hot spots and it stays where I angle it. Clip fits perfectly and holds well on the bottom left-hand side of my wireless keyboard (full-sized)and light covers the entire device. Marvelous light coverage when used on my Kindle Keyboard as well. CONS: Levels of brightness are perfect for my needs and the light is quite soothing. However, for those of you that may need to be considerate of others, it might be TOO bright. There's not that much difference in brightness between the 2 levels, although the change IS noticeable. As to my use of it with my Kindle: I keep this device in a fairly thick, 2-sided cover.Clip is too long to fit on the top of the Kindle itself (that's why the one from iKross seemed to be "the one". It was the exact fit to keep clipped on to the top of the device while in the case) So, I clip this one to the left side of the cover. Prevents me from folding that side back... have to keep the cover fully opened. Actually, without a cover, probably wouldn't fit this particular Kindle at all but haven't a clue if this would hold true with the other Kindle versions. This might bother some of you but the light and the coverage are so good that it's just a minor inconvenience I'm happy to live with, all things considered. I've only been using this light for about 2 weeks now so I can't attest to its longevity. Sure hope it lasts for a reasonable length of time though...whatever THAT is for goods nowadays:) Really satisfied but... to be honest...will probably always wonder if that one made by iKross WOULD have been "the one", LOL. HAPPY READING ALL!

E luce fu
