Wilton Race Car Pan

I bought this pan to bake a cake for my boyfriend because when I asked him what kind of cake he'd like he (a 22 year old) said, "a fancy race car cake!" to mess with me. Haha...well he got his wish, I went straight onto Amazon and ordered this pan. It was kind of painful for me to spend the money I did on this pan since I knew I would probably only use it this once, but it's okay because I returned it anyways because I was not satisfied. I am fairly seasoned in baking and could have made a decent race car cake but I knew I would not have the time. I turned to this pan for a quick fix so I don't need to mold and form my own race car. I sort of got what I wanted out of it but was not completely satisfied. The cake held the overall shape of the pan well but all of the lines of detail on the pan were VERY hard to see. I was hoping to use the details of the pan to make it easier for me to frost the cake with various colors to recreate the picture. I mostly just used guess work at figuring out where the lines were and in the end just started to draw on the cake in frosting free-hand since I really could not see any of the details. If you're just looking for a pan to shape your cake, this is the pan for you. If you're looking for any sort of guidance while frosting the cake, steer clear.

I like the cake pan but it was over priced. It was listed as new but it was clearly a used item. The paper insert had grease stains on it and the pan had cake residue in the creases. It was for an upcoming baby shower and I was making the cake so I didn't have time to return it and get something else.

Wish that definition of flag and car, were more apparent when the cake was baked.
