Fantastic drip irrigation tubing
We bought a new house and the backyard sprinkler system was broken beyond repair. Even with professional help, I was unable to locate the sprinkler valves for the back yard. So instead I set out to research and install my own drip irrigation to automate the watering process, mostly because I am way too lazy to water my backyard every other day. I chose the rainbird family of products because of the positive reviews and the plethora of options. I chose drip emitters for the trees and shrubs in my yard. I chose 1/2 in tubing for the systems backbone. Then this 1/4 in tubing to run out to the individual plants, flowers, trees, shrubs... There are two ways you can install the emitters. You can install them straight into the 1/2 in tubing, like I did. The other way is to install a 1/4 in coupler into the 1/2 in tubing, then run a 1/4 tube to the plant. Then connect the drip emitter at that end. I chose this configuration because some people complain about the water pressure pushing the emitter off the end of the tubing. + Great price for this 1/4 in tubing. I knew this would be more than enough for my whole project. + Very easy to cut and push onto the fittings. No special tools needed. + Very happy with the performance so far. - Nothing thus far. I am very happy with the performance of this tubing so far. Some people have complained about them getting fouled with dirt. I don't expect to have that issue as I used the Rainbird stakes to keep the ends of the tubing off the ground. Ill update this review as necessary.

A little bit stiffer, but much more secure than alternatives
This is high-quality tubing and a great option if you are having trouble with leaks or have a higher pressure drip irrigation system. I had previously tried the more flexible and softer MXC brand, but found that it could not securely hold at joints, especially under hot sun. This Rain Bird tubing is definitely stiffer and slightly more difficult to work with, but it is very much more secure and will save you having to rip and replace the lines you thought had been easy to lay but now keep coming apart. It does tend to want to keep its cooled shape, but a little bit of flexing in the other direction straightens it out. And if you intentionally bend it, it will hold the shape. I was so frustrated by my earlier choice that I replaced it all with this and double-barbed connectors. It hasn’t given me any problems since. Even in the couple of places where I ended up having to use single-barbed connectors, this tubing has also held up fine. Those who say this tubing is difficult to work with must have extremely low water pressure or no sunlight. Otherwise, I can’t imagine being satisfied with anything less than this product.

Works great for me
I purchased this drip tube a while ago but didn’t really use it in my garden right away. I think what turned me off in the beginning, was the difficulty of laying it out and inserting barbs, because it isn’t very pliable. I decided to work on my irrigation, now that Summer is coming to an end, and do a major overhaul. I’m also trying out square foot gardening, which is new to me, and I thought I could do a grid pattern with this drip tubing. I laid it in the sun to make it a little more flexible but it’s still definitely difficult to work with. I also had these 4 inch long stakes for 1/4” tubing, that I purchased from my local hardware store, and I made my grid. It definitely took a little practice to get it right, but I think I have it figured out now. I wanted to elevate the tubing above the soil and mulch, so that it drips down and doesn’t lay in the dirt. I use the stakes to elevate the tubing maybe an inch above the ground and this works like a charm. It is actually pretty awesome and the stiffness of the tubing I think helps it stay elevated. I have my 12 x 12 squares laid out for my square foot gardening in my 2 x 4 bed and the whole bed is perfectly moist from running this for 15 minutes.. I’m an urban gardener with a tiny backyard. I decided to post this review because maybe it will help someone else. I have definitely struggled with figuring out irrigation and so I’m pretty happy with the set up. The only problem is I can’t find those stakes anywhere but my local hardware store but luckily they had a pack of 50. I’m using 6-8 stakes per square, which is probably overkill, but I did anyway. Lol .

Excellent quality. Just coiled up a length in my Greenstalk Reservoir so I could water my Greenstalk as part of my drip irrigation system for my entire garden. Works beautifully. It overflows the internal reservoir as intended to water all the lower levels. TIP: With drip irrigation systems, all the emitters must be drip, you can't mix and match. Hence, the roll of irrigation tubing in my Greenstalk.

Connected this drip tube to a small fountain pump and plastic water reservoir tub to use as an indoor watering system while on vacation. Combined with a timer it worked really well to water plants over three week period. You’ll need to calibrate how much water you need and then determine how much water discharges through the drippers in your setup to then calculate how long to have the pump turn on and how often you need to water. If you had this setup within a flood table or similar container it could collect any excess water back into the reservoir similar to an Ebb and flow system.

Excellent product. Easy to install and much better than overhead sprinklers for vegetables.
