How sturdy are the branches? I would like to hang decor on it and some of the items are a little heavy

The branches are very sturdy....I don’t think you would have any problems with hanging ornaments. The tree is lovely...I have 4 of them, all different sizes......one placed on my front porch and then 3 as a grouping in my living room. I have the trees on timers.

Do you have any trees that the lights are powered by batteries?

Yes, we have tree lights powered by batteries, but only tabletop trees(18in) and branch lights(32in). Please refer to asin: B07F8Q8HYY and B07FT9H1NC. Thank you for your concern. Wish you a good day.

Do the 6ft trees need a stand for in the house?

No stand is needed. The base is well designed for indoor and outdoor use.
