M1A Sking/Bipod Pin
This adapter fit well in my M1A was simple to install. Just removed my stock and screwed it in. This was great as it allowed me to attach a Bipod.

Synthetic M1A stock users
The product works fine. I know walnut/wood stocks have a deeper well to seat this in but my synthetic stock worked just fine. I found the best thing to do it get an allen wrench to go through the bipod adapter and tighten it down very tight. You will create little indents on the inside of your stock that will seat the mount hardware securely(DO NOT DO OVERTIGHTEN ON WOOD!! ONLY ON SYNTHETIC STOCKS OTHERWISE YOU RISK DAMAGE/CRACKS). If the screw is too long like some reviews say(mine was perfect) then either get a little washer for a better fit or just file it down a bit. There should be no contact with your op rod. Use some marker on the face of the plate and on the screw then tilt test your op rod a few times and you should make sure there is no contact. Great product for wood. Works just fine for synthetic stocks too if you do not mind little indents.

Installed on M1A SOCOM 16
I bought a SOCOM 16 rifle and it didn't have any mounts for a bipod. I thought i was going to have to drill a hole in the stock but there was already a spot for this adaptor. The Springfield M1A SOCOM 16 has a spot in the stock that is recessed and this fit right in. I bought the Magpul bipod and used the skinny base and it fits perfectly.

Threaded right in
I think my gas tube was touching when I first installed it. Using this with a shorter Harris bipod changed my point of impact a bit at 100 from where it lands when using sandbags or my steel rest with bag. Inexpensive handy tool. Be careful you don’t over tighten it as you absolutely could damage the area of your stock that surrounds the hole. Good value good accessory.

M1A Scout/SOCOM w/ synthetic stock needs modification
I have the M1A Scout squad with synthetic stock. This product does NOT fit without modification. I had to put couple washers to prevent the screw from screwing in too deep which will contact the gas tube (Note: it does not contact the exposed gas piston). 1 star off due to modification and another star for paying $25 for a nut and a screw. I don't know if the wooden stock will need modification though.
